Dom suggested making unslighed long and clamped
Clamped would prevent certain classes of error, but not all.
This is fixed in latest editors draft, 20140617, [1] 4. If toneBuffer contains any unrecognized characters, throw an InvalidCharacterError exception and abort these steps.
