There is no test for the dominant-baseline alignment property, and possibly as a result the property is not well supported. Of the popular browsers, only Firefox (12/Win) does a good job with the attached test.

text-align-07-t is closest, but seems to rely on a dominant-baseline property intrinsic to the font.
