It turns out that pixel aspect ratio, if taken into account when calculating vmin and vmax, would result in a change to the selected values, and that we need to decide if we mean the actual size or the numerical size in the coordinates of the root extent. I've added a note to issue-225 to this effect.

This completes this action, so marking as Pending Review.
