Meeting minutes

Special Issue of JMUI

debbie: should be "Journal on Multimodal Interfaces"

debbie: is there a way to see submissions?

dirk: we should receive a notification for each submission

debbie: we can send around the web page

dirk: there is no conflict with older instructions

debbie: I can post it on some Linux Foundation Slack channels
… A2A just joined the Agentic AI Foundation, so they should be interested

grounding

dirk: didn't have time but Kristiina asked if there were any standards on grounding

dirk: open knowledge format, an effort from Google

GoogleCloudPlatform/knowledge-catalog

(from README) an AI-powered data catalog and metadata management platform. It provides a dynamic knowledge graph of all your data, structured and unstructured, to provide semantics and business context to AI agents

debbie: this sounds like "context engineering"

dirk: used in Open Wiki, they analyze source code and provides documentation, etc. as markdown files
… Langchain

debbie: that sounds like context engineering

dirk: can try to give an overview of Open Knowledge Format for next time

debbie: so many people are interested in this
… also ties into grounding

dirk: could this format help with context for conversational agents, so you don't have to set up a database

debbie: if this worked, does it mean that RAG is losing its value?

dirk: or supplement it

debbie: there are a lot of existing databases, so RAG could still be used, but this could help with areas where there aren't any existing databases

debbie: knowledge grounding sounds like the semantic web

debbie: maybe we still need to think about what we would work on

dirk: what would be tasks? Publicize web page, prepare a talk on Open Knowledge Format
… I can also send to the Sigdial mailing list

dirk: not sure if OKF is helpful for grounding
