Meeting minutes

Discoverable Destinations

<matatk> matatk: Could propose breakout, on understanding that we may have to cancel due to there being so many other accessibility meetings. Would need to demo what's new, ask questions.

<matatk> Abhinav: Happy to propose one.

<matatk> janina: We need to do something new; not just the same as last time. What is the take-awya from what we propose? What do we want at the end of the day to have?

<matatk> +1

<matatk> janina: It could be what's new; that it's ready to use; asking for industry support 9got strong feedbakc on that last year).

matatk: Expects move is on for this coming weekend and would mean more time for Adapt (and APA) activity

matatk: Very excited by what we've achieved in this TF regardless of what we do at TPAC

matatk: We'll find a way to promote it

<matatk> janina: I mentioned in WAICC yesterday specifically about symbols, that we might want to consider press activity; it was received well. I got an action out of it, to write a paragraph we want to share.

<matatk> janina: We could contact people in the various orgs we know, BCI, ARASAAC, etc.

<matatk> janina: We should think of who else we want to promote with. I think we should do the same thing with Destinations, but not sure if it's the right time just yet. But soon.

<matatk> Abhinav: When do we need to propose?

<matatk> matatk: ASAP, here's the list: https://github.com/w3c/tpac2026-breakouts/issues

Abhinav: Can we return to this question in Sep?

matatk: Would prefer to work it out sooner, but yes

Symbols

<matatk> janina: We should be thinking about who in other organizations (BCI, ARASAAC, ...) that would want to promote what we're doing with us.

<matatk> Russell: I'll have a think about it

<matatk> janina: Excited about this. Needs thought, and checking.

<matatk> janina: Two things we need: (1) someone in the org who's good with this sort of promotion; and (2) someone perhaps with name visibility who we can get a quote from.

<matatk> Russell: Timing?

<matatk> janina: I think we'd like to make the press release a week or so ahead of TPAC.

<matatk> Russell: BCI is most active in Europe, though there are people all around the world. Europe tends to take August off.

<matatk> Russell: I can start on this. I have some ideas.

<matatk> matatk: PR w3c/adapt#323

matatk: Have incorporated proposed change

matatk: More edits are pending

matatk: Will do major edits first -- as time allows!

<matatk> https://github.com/w3c/adapt/blob/main/explainers/symbols.md

<matatk> Thanks Russell

Russell: Explains struct of TSE file in the demo folder

matatk: Discusses how to make the approach extensible to add another AAC symbol set

Russell: They'll need to provide several things ...

matatk: We could have a linking program
