Agenda Review & Announcements
DST Changes
<matatk> Europe clocks will change this weekend, so the meeting will go back to the usual time for Europeans.
CSUN
<matatk> If you have relevant updates from CSUN, please queue to give a brief summary.
matatk The clocks changed in the US a few weeks ago, they will change this weekend in Europe, and then for others it will stay at its time there. Check the W3C calendar which will always display your time.
… CSUN updates?
… Was there anything you came upon that is relevant to W3C?
Spoon Theory talk: https://
JenStrickland: Wish everyone in W3C had knowledge of... Ted Drake gave a couple of talks. One in particular on spoon theory. I think if people in W3C had seen this, it would help them understand the process barriers, particularly for people with cognitive disabilities or accessibility barriers.
JenStrickland: He also gave another good talk 'don't make me think like a designer' which was very good.
… We have these cultural issues at W3C that can shut down newcomers.
… This is putting off people from being IEs.
… We need to encourage a diverse range of perspectives to get involved.
<JenStrickland> Don't make me think... like a designer talk: https://
<JenStrickland> janina I told them about APA and how magical we (you) are.
janina: Pcking up Jen's thread, I would like to piont out that AGWG isn't the single a11y place in the W3C. ARIAWG, APAWG... there's a lot of us. We all do interesting things.
janina: If you want to be on the fiuring out level for the future, this place right here is where you should be.
janina: (throwing some shade on CSUN.)
janina: I did a presentation. URI forthcoming.
janina: And in other news, I'm going to ICCHP.
JenStrickland: When other people in the W3C reference APA, they just descirbe it as just doing the horizontal review.
janina: They'll need educating, then.
JenStrickland: Do we have an elevator pitch for APA?
matatk: We can definitely do that and it would be appreciated.
JenStrickland: I'd be pounding pavements with that!
JenStrickland: One more thing: last year there was a bout a dozen of us providing feedback on a11y issues. There had been changes made. Genderl neutral bathrooms, non-jingly lanyards, and so forth.
APA review process docs update
Fredrik: CSUn will come out, tomorrow...
matatk: We have been working for some time slowly on documenting the new Github based review process.
matatk: We're tweaking it as we go.
matatk: Ther isn't anything quite ready ot present as the ultimate shebang of it all, but htere is a pretty substantially done draft.
matatk: Becky is working on collecting everything.
W3C Breakouts Day
<matatk> List of sessions: https://
<matatk> Grid of sessions: https://
matatk: If you're on this call, you're missing out. Sorry.
matatk: MOst talks have hteir presentation parts recorded.
matatk: Thre are two slots: this hour and the hour before. And then tomorrow a lot later in the day.
matatk: It's a micro TPAC if you will. Without Irish beer, though.
<matatk> Fredrik: I was wondering, the recordings, where are they posted?
matatk? I think the GH threads and the calendar events will get updated with links to the meeings/minutes/meeting recordings.
matatk: In a few days, there'll be links.
New charters
matatk: There is quite an important new one!
<matatk> w3c/
matatk: AGWG. You probably know whta they do.
matatk: here are interesgint changes. Look at the diff view.
matatk: mobile, VR, and others are being considered.
matatk: There are a lot fo chagnes all aroudn in terms of wording. There ais WCAG 2 maintenance in the charter.
matatk: Support for non-Latin scripts is in the charter. Some non/WCAG activities like WCAG2ICT.
matatk: Out of scope is fairly expected as a section.
matatk: The deliverable date of WCAG 3 is Q4 2027.
janina: That is probably some status...
matatk: It says here, expected completion. But it says "Editors draft". They would probably be aiming for CR then. Or something.
janina: There isn't even that yet.
<matatk> Fredrik: Concern that the deliverables aren't that clearly defined
<matatk> Fredrik: I have not read it yet though. I would like to know the above. I think it would help them. They've made tremendous progress in the past couple of years.
matatk: Any opinions?
<matatk> Fredrik: Important for stakeholders to know when WCAG 3 will be done.
janina: They are kind of under the gun to get chartered...
janina: They will have to recharter in April.
janina: I don't know that we as APA would have an opinion on this.
janina: Unless there's some belief that APA has a stance here, I think we should file the comments individually through our respecitve AC reps.
matatk: I will follwo up with what th edate is and then take it from there.
JenStrickland: I agree here. :otentially blocking it if it isn't construcive and clear is valid. I have had a lot fo AGWG express concerns. IF we an do anything to help them get clearer about things that would be useful.
New on TR
matatk: I'll ask on the GH thread and see what happens. If we get a clear answer, I'll say "fine". If not, I'll bring it back.
matatk: There are a couple of things.
matatk: Let's just signpost them andhop along.
matatk: Also there is another thing we had to review - we'll probably have to do it next week. Making note.
matatk: We have got an ePub document.
EPUB Annotations
<matatk> https://
matatk: This one is a specific profile of the Web Annotation Data Model for use in ePub domain. Web Annotations are very interesting.
matatk: They are part of a decentralized web infrasctructure and I believe they give you the opportunity for people to make semantic statements on other pages. IN the case of ePub, there is a number of different things that they are using to provide more semantics about eBooks.
matatk: We have a lot of time to review it.
Fredrik: Putting my had up for an early issue.
YAML-LD
<matatk> https://
matatk: This is also an FPWD.
matatk: JSON-LD is another thing to serialise linked date. This is that but in YAML.
matatk: This is probably going to be pretty lowlevel for us.
Spec review requests
matatk: We've got several that we are still working on.
matatk: We have got others where we are looking for assistance from more people.
matatk: And a couple of new ones.
IMSC Text Profile
<matatk> w3c/
matatk; We did a review of this and we had a concern. Tiffany did a really in depth review of it and we came to a consensus on our ocnccern and they are caryign on with it and they are aware of the issue.
matatk: They are proposing how to address the issue which has een added to the document.
matatk: I think the ARIAWG would be better paced to deal with it. This is basically what we said we would do last time. Now it is time.
matatk: We've got a trio of other reviews on the RDF 1.2 side of things.
matatk: I have a feeling they will be pritty low level all of them.
RDF 1.2 Trig
<matatk> w3c/
matatk: It's a shorthand of RDF.
matatk: It's RDF with syntactic sugar adn not all the XML stuff.
matatk: This is a review request and not a transition one.
matatk: There is also a primer for RDF 1.2 whcih may be worth looking at (linked form the request).
matatk: It does not have an a11y considerations section which may not be a huge concern. Would it need one might be the relevant question.
RDF 1.2 n-quads
<matatk> w3c/
RDF 1.2 turtle
<matatk> w3c/
matatk: Would anyone like to take a look at these?
matatk: We'll need to get back tothis.
MathML 4.0
<matatk> request: w3c/
<matatk> tracking: w3c/
matatk: BIg one! Neha has volunteered but we need someone else.
matatk: I mean someone else as well.
<JenStrickland> Would you have steps to follow to test?
<tsaulter> I'm similar that I don't have much experience with MathML but am happy to volunteer with steps :)
matatk: Neha will work out examples and specifis and things will be divvied up between those brave volutneers.
CSS Gap Decorations
<matatk> request: w3c/
<matatk> tracking: w3c/
matatk: My recollection is that Eric looked a this and didn't see... Am I correct in saying that you loo,ed at it, don't have concerns with the spec itself, but the actual document itself has issues?
Eric_hind: Just some process issues.
matatk: Maybe mention the issues in tthe tracking issue.
Eric_hind: I have it paste ready.
matatk: Very interesting and motivating call as ever - thanks everyone!
matatk: More next week and on the process and everything.
