Mock-up of section for adding all Level AAA SCs

Pull request: w3c/wcag2ict#813

Preview if you want to see the built version: https://deploy-preview-813--wcag2ict.netlify.app/#comments-on-level-aaa-success-criteria

There was some comment before when we had a AAA SC in the same section as all the other A & AA requirements.

As a result Mary Jo has proposed putting them in a separate section and including some introductory text. We could also add some verbiage explaining that the AAA SCs are for guidance only - they are not required.

The current proposal just has the headers - and the text has not been included to save on repetition.

Script already brings in the WCAG guidance for context.

We had agreed on SC 1.2.7 contents, so this has been included as an example of AAA guidance

There are also placeholders for editor's notes to say that we are working specific SCs

We still need to add some information explaining that AAA is not required - Bruce is going to work on this.

PhilDay: Think that it is better in a separate section, but wonder if we remove the high-level headings (e.g. Perceivable).

Sam: Also prefer it to be separated

maryjom: Also prefer the separation (chair hat off!)
… Particularly as some of these SCs may not be supportable in non-web contexts

Daniel: Still torn between separating or not. Keeping them together with other requirements helps with context - as the closer non AAA elements are somewhat related.

Daniel: Any issues with scripts?

maryjom: If we do want to reproduce the 1st and 2nd level headings (principles & guidelines) then we have the same heading names - which caused some issues for the script. Workaround for the mockup was to hard-code the heading - so we would need separate anchor codes. The rest worked fine.
… Was able to filter out the guidance which worked fine.
… We may need some further tweaking to the script if we have multiple notes in a section.

loicmn: Prefer having AAA in separate section as it gives us the opportunity to stress the limited implementation possibilities of AAA.
… Also not imply that AAA is to be automatically applied to non-web.

Regarding headings, it could work with or without - no strong preference.

maryjom: Ambivalent as to whether we include headings.

maryjom: Will send out a question in email to get input from the wider TF asking if we should include the principles & guidelines headings in the AAA section, or just have the SCs.

ISSUE: w3c/wcag2ict#534

(But the latest working is in the google doc)

Proposal 1: Phil's original.

Proposal 2: added edits as discussed in the last meeting of December 2025

Proposal 3: Added further edits from Mary Jo to try and address Gregg's concerns

PhilDay: Prefer proposals 2 and 3 to my original - but haven't had time to go through the detail of proposal 3 to see if it addresses all of Gregg's concerns.

Proposal 3: does address Gregg's concern about system - used a different word

Proposal 3 - also reworded the 2nd paragraph to try and make it clearer to read

If others have not reviewed this yet, then we will have to leave it until next week.

The other SC that we worked on last time was getting close to make a PR to try and agree it. However, maryjom didn't want to make another PR until we agree how we are going to incorporate AAA SCs (inline with others, or in separate AAA section).

We can review this next week as well - content will be put into another Google doc.

<loicmn> Google docs is OK for me

Daniel: Google docs - may have to be transferred to the W3C system to keep them in the right space. Daniel is trying to work on how to do this with the systems team.

maryjom: Is happy to move things to the W3C space as soon as it is available.
… Also useful to keep the google docs so that links in surveys still work in the future

We will move to the other AAA SCs

Other Level AAA criteria

Overview issue: w3c/wcag2ict#791

(for all AAA SCs)

<Zakim> PhilDay, you wanted to suggest we may want to modify this issue to a table, so can see who is working on what issues - and which still needs picking up

PhilDay: Suggest reworking this so we can see the status of each issue - and then easily know which needs working on. Either table, or 3 sections (done, in progress, not started) so we can easily see what needs to be picked up.

maryjom: Will work on this - create a table, and add links to PRs & google docs

maryjom: Will create a survey to encourage people to start working through these other AAA SCs, then sign up to develop guidance for each one.
… And will also add question about how to handle AAA SCs (in-line or separate section, with or without headings).

We will finish early so people can start working on SCs (starting from 1.4.6 contrast (enhanced)).
