<Lisa> https://www.w3.org/wbs/35422/AGWGSubgroupParticipation_Jan_26/ -

Lisa: End of today, sign up period is complete. This is a new sprint for WCAG (outside of COGA)

julierawe: Requirement, log in as w3c user, 1. Purpose is not a question, just a purpose statement

julierawe: After that each question is about a particular subgroup, the time they meet and a radio button to flag if you're interested. Note that 3. Text and wording subgroup has a few COGA members already, it covers plain language, fonts and text to speech (updated scope this round).

Lisa: 4. Input and focus is a good group to look at focus, button behavior, etc. Items that are genuinely relevent to COGA so volunteers would be great

Lisa: John K may volunteer for this group

julierawe: Rashmi and Lisa are signed on to the Errors, task completion and help (5.)

Charli: If I can't commit to a group now, should I sign up, wait?

<Lisa> https://www.w3.org/wbs/35422/AGWGSubgroupParticipation_Jan_26/?login=

julierawe: If you're interested, these are long term commitments so recommend to fill out the survey with notes.

julierawe: 6. User orientation , layout and structure subgroup is also important to COGA - there's overlap with plain language and the structure part is relevent. John K has expressed interest already.

julierawe: As well as Rain.

julierawe: 7. User Control, prevent harm subgroup is also relevent to COGA. John K and Lisa have signed up (but is currently conflicts with COGA) so participation would be asynch.

<tayef> Unfortunately I can't commit to a subgroup at this time with the time commitment required between the working group and task force. Perhaps that can change later as I get more comfortable balancing my capacity.

julierawe: 8 Single sense and contrast is a new group as is 9. Sign language. These are less urgent for COGA but please do participate if these are of interest.

julierawe: 10 Comformance subgroup is also new - there is a focus of making comformance models work. WCAG 3 will have a different model than A, AA and AAA in WCAG 2.x , so this group is about developing that new model. There is a lot of refining to do and this is important to make sure COGA is well represented.

julierawe: Jennie, Rain have expressed interest in this. John K may also be interested in participating.

Lisa: Will also join this one (10. Conformance)

julierawe: Final question (11) is about co-leading... reminder to please fill out tonight if you can. Otherwise, there will be other chances to fill out.

tiffanyburtin: may commit later on. Interested in contrast group.

Lisa: Review is taking longer than expected, early review requested changes. Eric to make meeting with Lisa to figure out how to resolve some conflicts.

Lisa: Want to do post-mortem on the first review/edit process that we just completed. Would like Triggers template done too. There are other issue papers we could do as well.

Lisa: Note that Rashmi and others have noted that given the time scope between writing and publishing, there is often new research done that would really work well in the papers.

Lisa: Adding editors who can work through the editing process we use at COGA, would be good.

<Jan> When were you planning to do the editor's training?

Lisa: Editors training would only happen if there's a need.

<Jan> We have an internationalization community group meeting this Wednesday. Which paper is your biggest priority for internationalization feedback at this time?

julierawe: We do have a handful of folks who worked on editing the research modules for publication. For next round, we could do a mentoring kind of thing with someone new.

Becca_Monteleone: Would it be useful to put timelines on research?

<Jan> +1 to Becca's timeline comment

Lisa: We could indicate last research done in the research modules - to indicate that newer research is not accounted for.

<Lisa> +1

Becca_Monteleone: Feel it is important of having some kind of statement, no particular preference of where

<Charli> +1

<Eric_hind> +1

<tayef> +1

<Jan> +1

Is there a priority of focus of research?

[11: 42am] kirkwood: +1

<kirkwood> +1

Lisa: Another question..Should we update the research (literature review)?

<Becca_Monteleone> +1 for having statement about when we conducted lit review/updated research so readers know at what point we stopped collecting research

<julierawe> +1 to Becca suggestion

Lisa: Clarify, research we're talking about is academic/reference. So should we do one more pass of research since the last time we stopped doing research and then writing the papers themseles.

<Becca_Monteleone> e.g. of statement: "This research module was primarily drafted in Spring 2025. Research published after March 2025 may not be reflected in this draft."

<Lisa> revising the litary review one more time. is that criticle

<Lisa> +1 from charli

<julierawe> +1

<Eric_hind> +1

<Becca_Monteleone> +1

<Jan> +1

<Lisa> triggers issue paper? is that criticle

<julierawe> +1

Becca_Monteleone: Is the content and form up to speed.

Lisa: Not in the right form yet.

Eric_hind: Abi and I will do the format updating for triggers this week

julierawe: Feel that Triggers may need more prioritizing (first draft) over other papers.

Lisa: No objections to getting Triggers plus lit review moving forward.

Lisa: Looking for papers of importance to COGA members - for example, AI papers. Kirkwood is asking about the status of AI in particular since those tools are so common in everyday scenarios.

<tiffanyburtin> I agree with John that it would be useful to have a specific paper on AI for benefits and cautions.

Lisa: We may tackle new issue papers in the new year.

AI summary issue paper? might be something to explore (future?)

<kirkwood> +1 to Tiffany

<Lisa> https://raw.githack.com/w3c/coga/research-modules-wd-1/issue-papers/Online-Safety-and-Wellbeing.html

tiffanyburtin: Given the AI push out there, there's little overview of risks from companies.

AI subgroup?

Charli: Dedicated AI paper would be a logical follow up to the Online safety

<tiffanyburtin> I would participate in an AI subgroup but afternoons are the best time for me.

Lisa: need a survey for whats important related to AI (and COGA).

<Jan> Happy Holidays, everyone!
