Accessibility of Machine Learning and Generative AI.
jasonjgw: There was an article about MCP and agents being used by Microsoft and similar reports that Apple will be taking these up
jasonjgw: the use cases could include AI agents accessing webpages on behalf of users
janina: there is movement to try to canonise MCP within W3C
janina: The new Shell on Linux is now supporting MCP within the shell
janina: there a proposed TPAC session on this topic.
janina: I'm interested in the ability for this to democratise the creation of these little software automaton.
janina: It should enable people to find common parts of a webpage and navigate to them.
jasonjgw: We need to carve out a section of the document for these topics.
jasonjgw An agent working on your behalf could perform a task on your behalf to increase the accessibility.
janina Has anyone heard of any of these tool s considring accessibility?
jasonjgw: only in terms of where they're providing accessibility. Automated captions etc.
janina: Using a university as an analogy we seem to have accessibility to all the specialist disability services but to none of the other buildings and courses.
jasonjgw: In terms of generating media content you would need to AI to create the accessibility metadata to that as well.
janina: If an AI is generating a video of people talking then it should be generating the captions as well. If it is then those captions should be pretty good but is it happening.
janina: If it's not happening then it's premature to ask about the quality of them.
jasonjgw: Not as far as I've heard.
There are 9 accessibility related presentations proposed in the breakouts.
Miscellaneous topics.
janina: a document has been forwarded to APA for review which sounds like a meeting RQTF has a while back about legislation in the EU about digital video broadcasting.
janina: We did have a meeting and we did minute it so I want to review the minutes of that meeting first.
