Introduction

[Round of introductions]

<VladimirAlexiev> 3 people already expressed interest in Rules, and 2 in Compact

<VladimirAlexiev> role of SHACL as application profile: to describe the connection between N ontologies being used together

<VladimirAlexiev> https://github.com/w3c-cg/awesome-semantic-shapes is a list of implementations of SHACL and SHEX and related things (eg shape induction tools, generating stuff from SHACL, etc)

Charter

Nick: the WG works in public, so people can follow the work even if they don't participate

<nicholascar> Charter: https://www.w3.org/2024/12/data-shapes.html

Nick: deliverables are SHACL 1.2 Core and SPARQL Extensions, in the first phase
... Holger has started moving those documents

Holger: The content is basically the same as the CG drafts

Nick: We can start editing right away. Holger did volunteer. We need additional 1 or 2 co-editors for each spec

Gregg: I understand that the charter includes RDF 1.2 features

Holger: every feature enhancement request should go in an issue in GH
... we have been cautious not to break previous version

<betehess> SHACL 1.2 can only be touched in Phase 1?

Holger: other features can be added later

<AndyS> Same Q as betehess

AlexB: can we go back to SHACL 1.2 after phase 1?

Nick: we'd like to have Core finished before we can really work on additional specs

<VladimirAlexiev> @gkellogg I also asked about "shacl on graphs" and Nick said "can be handled in the other deliverables. https://github.com/w3c-cg/awesome-semantic-shapes/tree/VladimirAlexiev-patch-1#specifications has a section "SHACL on graphs" that lists some related things (we should merge it to https://github.com/w3c-cg/awesome-semantic-shapes pretty soon).

<VladimirAlexiev> You're welcome to add approaches there!

Nick: the intent is to see good progress on the first 2 deliverables

<Zakim> AndyS, you wanted to ask about email vs GH issues discussions

AndyS: I'm not advocating for one or the other

Nick: I'd favor GH issues

Eliana: let's try to keep things in GH

<VladimirAlexiev> +1 for github issues vs email!

<ajnelson-nist> If we choose to use just the one GitHub repository, perhaps Issue tags might be sufficient for organization. Some Issues might be cross-topic naturally.

Carine: Some groups have 1 repo/spec, others all their specs in 1 repo. Only 1 repo makes it easier for issues that impact several documents

Nick: Let's keep 1 repo for the moment
... (going through the other specs in the charter)
... SHACL 1.2 Inferencing Rules, SHACL 1.2 Profiling, SHACL 1.2 Compact Syntax and SHACL 1.2 User Interfaces

Meetings

Next WG meeting will be in 2 weeks, but chairs and staff meet next week, so if you're interested in editing, get in touch with us preferably before next monday.

<simonstey> I'm interested in editing the Inferencing Rules Spec.

<betehess> Not sure I like the idea of multiple meeting times...
