New Issue Triage

scott this isn't super new, if I recall, it's like lazy loading, where it has to be in the viewport to render

jamesn giacomo, do you have a proposal?

giacomo-petri there's agreement with safari and gecko but not chrome

jamesn so it sounds like a mess

jamesn it sounds like we should have something in html aam, or we should file a bug against css itself

spectranaut_ we should talk about this in the future

Adam_Page: wanted to ask giacomo to see if he's looked at wpt

<scott> https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/content-visibility#browser_compatibility

jcraig: if you have an expectation you can write a test

Adam_Page: it might be useful to send a link to see how the browsers handle it in this regard

WPT Open PRs

New Issue Triage

jamesn: would anyone like to try and reply to this topic?

scott: I will take a look into this

jamesn: are you taking on this issue, scott?

scott: yes, we all talked about it in the working group, and it should go in the html element

smockle: you can assign the arianotify issue to me

WPT Open PRs

jamesn: do any of these need action from anyone?

jcraig: I reviewed some of these, the question for scott is whether these need review?

scott: I need to update the test for the figcaption one

jcraig: 2 weeks ago giacomo-petri mentioned wanting to work on wpt

jcraig: I think chrome has an auto bug file so it's exciting to see fixes happening quickly

Deep Dive planning

spectranaut_: we needed to talk about the whitespace one but mel is out

jamesn: anyone else want to schedule anything for deep dives for jan?

[accname] Explicitly state UAs must ignore “aria-label” for slots

jamesn: we were hoping keith would be here to discuss, but he's not here today

Recently updated non html-aam PRs

jamesn: we thought we would look at PRs that are open. I took the html aam ones off the list

jamesn: the first is relax aria-valuenow

jcraig: should we go in reverse chronological order?

jamesn: these are the ones that were recently updated

jamesn: I will review this issue since it's waiting on me

jamesn: core-aam searchbox mapping. Does this need more reviewers?

spectranaut_: I guess it's okay

jamesn: can this be merged?

jamesn: you can merge it spectranaut_

jamesn: provide examples of types of menus. We have 2 approving reviewers and are looking for a 3rd

jamesn: jcraig can you review #2056

scott: I went through my old PRs and this had a pending comment from matt, but some of his suggested text went into APG territory

jcraig: I will review

jamesn: feat: add aria-checked support to gridcell and row.

jamesn: matt hasn't reviewed it, will ping him

jamesn: feat: aria-actions addition. There are a lot of conversations that hasn't been cleared.

jamesn: make aria-relevant and ariaRelevant reflect. Awaiting review from Rahim

spectranaut_: if someone else wants to take a look, we can land this issue, or just ping Rahim

spectranaut_: I think we can land this issue

jamesn: any objections?

jcraig: the tests have been passing for a while

jamesn: #2377, do arialabel substep before 'embedded control'. This does not have any positive reviews yet

@bryan: I will take a look

jamesn: #2371, has 2 positive reviews, but still have outstanding comments from jcraig, please re-review after your comments have been fixed

scott: I'm pretty sure I've addressed everything

jamesn: #2350, clarifications for html's autocomplete and aria-complete. 2 positive reviews, adrianr is outstanding.

scott: we should get someone else, adrian has been swamped

jamesn: would anyone like to review this?

Adam_Page: I will review this

janef: I'll also take a look

jamesn: #2341, update: fix inconsistency around aria-setsize=-1. 3 approving reviewers. Nothing is checked in the documentation and implementation part of it

scott: yeah that just hasn't been done. Now that this has been reviewed, bugs will need to be filed. I don't think we can do a wpt at this point for

spectranaut_: so the next step is just filling bugs

jamesn: will remove adrianr from reviewers

jamesn: will put a label of waiting for implementations

jamesn: #2299, editorial: update computation step 'comp_embedded_control"... jcraig left some comments, mel will have to resolve those comments

jamesn: #2261, added definition of 'host language'.

ray-schwartz: I didn't see jcraig's comment

jcraig: but there's a substantive rewrite as well

jamesn: once that's done I can help with the respec

ray-schwartz: I will move it forward

jamesn: #1794, add aria-labelsynonyms. jcraig really wants to do this

jcraig: yeah I just need to work on it

jamesn: should we stop here?

spectranaut_: yeah

jamesn: does anyone have a PR they reaaally want to talk about? otherwise we should break for the year

giacomo-petri: if we can talk a little about the css attribute issue, that way I can work on the wpt test. I can do a tentative but I don't know the expected behavior

jamesn: I think for me personally, it's premature to talk about it in detail because I'd like to do some additional research. I think agenda-ing it for the new year would be good. I think you should wait on the WPT test until getting more feedback from others about what the correct behavior is

jamesn: was there another one we wanted to talk about?

jamesn: we will break for the year, happy holidays!

jamesn: the next meeting is on Jan 9th
