Restructure clreq per standardised headings
[xfq introduces the changes]
[task force participants go through the changes]
Eric: 3.1.2 Han Characters only has two paragraphs
… appending it to 4.1.1 Characters used for Chinese Composition?
… or a new section in 4.1 Characters & encoding (as 4.1.2)?
[Discuss where to put the content of 3.1.2 Han Characters]
Eric: the section title "Typographic units" is ambiguous and can easily be understood as point systems etc. as in https://
Zhengyu: yeah
Zhengyu: maybe change 排版单位 to 排版单元
Eric: or 排版元素
xfq: I'll update the PR
[Discuss where to put the content of 4.1.2 Composition of Chinese and Western Mixed Texts]
Eric: 4.1.2.1 Handling Western Text in Chinese Text Using Proportional Western Fonts should be moved into the relevant sections
Bobby: we should mention sets of Chinese characters in 4.1 Characters & encoding, like in https://
[Discuss where to put the content of 3.1.2 Han Characters]
xfq: Let’s discuss the arrangement of the sections first, and then discuss the changes to the content.
Zhengyu: I think 3.1.2 Han Characters should be in section 3. Glyph shaping & positioning, instead of section 4. Typographic units
… but the section title of 3.1.2 Han Characters should be changed
Eric: 3.1.2 Basic Metrics of Han Characters 汉字的基本量度?
[Discuss the new title of 3.1.2 Han Characters]
Zhengyu: this can be discussed separately
Eric: or move it to 6.4 Baselines, line height, etc.
RESOLUTION: move the content of 3.1.2 Han Characters to 6.4 Baselines, line height, etc.
[Discuss baseline in Chinese typography]
Eric: Chinese characters do not have a baseline. The basic unit is the center to center of the characters.
[Discuss the behaviour of Adobe InDesign]
Eric: we need to add more content to 6.4 Baselines, line height, etc. in the future
xfq: back to 4.1.2 Composition of Chinese and Western Mixed Texts
… we can remove the first paragraph of 4.1.2.1 Handling Western Text in Chinese Text Using Proportional Western Fonts
[Discuss how to deal with 4.1.2 Composition of Chinese and Western Mixed Texts]
Zhengyu: we can directly put the contents of 4.1.1 Characters used for Chinese Composition and 4.1.2 Composition of Chinese and Western Mixed Texts flat below 4.1 Characters & encoding
Eric: personally, I don't think it is a good idea to separate the section for Composition of Chinese and Western Mixed Texts into different functional sections, because it is a special case in Chinese typography
Eric: and we should put the special cases together instead of splitting them into separate sections, making people feel that these are normal
… However, since there is no place to put it under the new structure, we have to split it up.
[Discuss the Chinese title and content 5.7 Inline notes & annotations]
RESOLUTION: change the Chinese of Inline notes & annotations to 行内注与行间注
[Discuss the Chinese translation of 5.8 Text decoration & other inline features]
Eric: let's change 文本装饰 to 文本标示, but I'm OK either way
RESOLUTION: change 文本装饰 to 文本标示
[Discuss the content of 7.1.2 Handling of Widows and Orphans]
xfq: I'll update the PR
