Face to Face Meeting Proposed
Lionel_Wolberger: Next step, Janina will check in on WAI's current standing on a Face 2 Face, and report back to us
Well Known Destinations
Lionel_Wolberger: What are the next concrete actions on Well Known Destinations?
matatk: Proposes a high level path of (a) close the use of rel (b) document it as non-normative (c) nice to have, implement it in an extension
janina: Reminding the TF, WHATWG requested we use already existing markup, and socialize that markup by showing best practices around that markup
janina: Two steps. (1) Socialize, namely to COGA and AGWG, ,(2) Then prototype and address technical issues
Abhinav: Need to clarify how the 'rel' data will handle metadata
<Annalu> Sorry folk, but I still don't have the zoom link to hand - please post
matatk: I see a way forward, the accessibility statement could carry it. Some of this may be out of scope of WKDs
matatk: ... may be more to gain in socializing from MM
Lionel_Wolberger: Clarified the decisions before us. (a) high level path using existing markup (b) socialize (c) write the non-normative report
Lionel_Wolberger: We are standardizing on existing markup, focus on REL and LINK element
… matatk proposes a fast path to clarity, by editing the explainer to reflect this approach
<Annalu> Hi Roy_Ruoxi - just checked - I can see it - still finding my way around.
Decision: matatk to have a high level draft by next meeting (of using existing markup)
Decision: janina to reach out to AGWG
Abhinav: I volunteer to review Matt's draft before next meeting.
Symbols
Lionel: What is the way forward on symbols?
Russell: I see (a) demonstrating that Ruby cannot support the proposed use case (b) move away from Unicode and back to the registry as-is (due to the circumstances)
matatk: ack matatk
<Zakim> matatk, you wanted to talk about prototyping
qck Annalu
Lionel_Wolberger: Much discussion of symbols: the support we have and challenges
… Next challenge is demonstration the feasability, or lack thereof, of using Ruby and/or custom-made fonts
… Matt noted, he could make a font to assist in a demonstration
… Lionel noted he could help
… it will help, as a group, to zero in on the cases where these approach have difficulties
… we also noted again the situation in Unicode, and whether it signals to us a stop, pause, or otherwise
