<Jean-Yves> scribe: Dan_Tripp
scribe+ dan_tripp
(introductions)
jean-yves: none. closed some recently.
jean-yves: done 2 things. 1) break down target size rule. pr 2182.
that rule doesn't make sense on it's own. but easier to get reviews.
2) playing with idea about 'boundary examples'. eg. passed example failing the rule.
helen: been working on secondary
requirements PR.
... updating subjectivity.
giacomo: added a few items into PRs. eg. 2161. waiting for mark rogers.
jean-yves: don't wait long.
giacomo: eg. added a few examples
with shadow roots.
... b/c ppl assume that text shadow is enough to pass.

jean-yves: for the newcomers: add a review with this link (above).

jean-yves: we also have beginner issues:
(link?)
helen: TF has had no meetings for
last 2 weeks.
... TF discussed subjectivity. that's the main difficulty w/
manual testing rules. trying to make sure that subjectiveness
is either called out, or made as non-subjective as
possible.
... still need volunteers.
<gab> I'm interested in writing manual tests
helen: reason: ACT rules help shape wcag 3.
jean-yves: need github special access only to write. not read.
giacomo: can bring it up in friday meeting w/ wcag
ricky: (resize / reflow): tpgi is
wrestling with this.
... no easy answers. partly wrestling with wcag wording. and
wrestling w/ what we're trying to solve. not the same
thing.
jean-yves: text is clipped,
failure technique: if it passes with /any/ of the user
techniques, it passes?
... then the examples in failing technique are actually
passing. open issues in wcag.
... it's weird. everybody's struggling on that.
... coming from TF?
... rule checks: if you have 2 iframe w/ same name, they have
same purpose.
... similar rule exists for links. but link name criteria
requires link name to be descriptive. but 4.1.2 only says that
there is a name.
... if iframe name doesn't need to be descriptive, then how can
it be a problem that two iframes have the same name?
helen: difficult for iframes which are adverts.
jean-yves: are such iframes
interface components?
... we do that via assumption.
giacomo: we can use SC 2.4.6
(headings and labels).
... 2.4.6 requires descriptive labels. so use it instead of
4.1.2.
jean-yves: if they are both
adverts, it's ok that they have the same name.
... there's a long discussion on wcag re: does 4.1.2 require
acc name to be descriptive?
... we should follow what wcag decides.
... should we use a secondary mapping?
... there's a change in wcag saying: name must be
appropriate.
helen: like with buttons. could be not a failure technically, but not a good user experience.
jean-yves: understanding wcag
document it going in the direction of: it needs to be a /good/
name.
... maybe we should change the assumption: we assume that the
name is good / "appropriate".
... and maybe add secondary SC mappings.
... what do people think: ... for two adverts, it's the same
function, so same name is okay. and add secondary SC
mapping.
<Helen> +1
helen: +1
<Jean-Yves> -q
jean-yves: our definition is
currently ~ get all the ancestor display blocks.
... so same paragraph, two different sentences, is same
context. this contradicts wcag's definition.
... carlos did research. there's no linguistic definition of
sentence that will work across languages.
... should we raise an issue to wcag saying that their
statement on AT behaviour re: sentences is wrong?
giacomo: yes.
jean-yves: once we have a wcag decision, we can move on.
giacomo: I'll open wcag bug.
