Meeting minutes

Update on A11y4Children

Registry meetings and updates

Janina: my action will reach out i18n people to follow up a GitHub issue
… going to have a initial contact with Addison
… we got a good idea about what's still had to happen

Update on A11y4Children

Sharon: saw mail from them, two week from today

Janina: we will take hours to go through their ontology

Sharon: There was nothing else then for accessibility for children, because we wanted to just meet with them and then start going through and understanding.

janina: we should be tracking this issue in Github.

<janina> whatwg/html#9084

User Agents and Symbols

Sharon: the Microsoft conversation we had

Lionel: we discovered at ZERO project that Microsoft had developed and they didn't public it at all.
… And now Chrome is publicized.

<matatk> Lionel_Wolberger: are you referring to https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/reader-mode/llimhhconnjiflfimocjggfjdlmlhblm?hl=en ? (I was aware of the in-browser Reader mode, but this seems to be extra.)

Gap Analysis

matthew: no progress on this
… expect more next time

Sharon: Lionel, will you gonna try and put something on the wiki like as a structure to start filling in?

Lionel: Yes, I accepted that and I haven't done yet.

matatk: Media queries appears to be quite elegant
… but it does not operate on the level that Adapt is addressing
… There is an aspect of, the company authoring the site, has information about the end user and can take decisions on what the end user wants
… but media queries operate in the user-agent.
… Every organization has a different model of user preferences
… That is CSS (Media queries)
… There is a lot more to come regarding "a well known URL for changing passwords"

<matatk> https://www.w3.org/TR/change-password-url/

Lionel_Wolberger: THe URL for the CHrome reading mode, press coverage here https://www.techspot.com/news/98133-google-announces-reading-mode-chrome-unlike-any-other.html

janina: The Gap Analysis prepares the Adapt TF to respond to questions, whether from TAG, WHATWG, etc

Lionel_Wolberger: What is the context on the well known URL doc?

janina: We want to start with the easiest to swallow beginning for the well known URL discussion
… an /a11y well known URL could be the least controversial and have the greatest positive impact out of the gate

<matatk> ack

Lionel_Wolberger: Are we suggesting Adapt TF could adopt this agenda and curate an a11y well known URL spec?

matatk: This scheme of having a well known URL for certain functions
… corelates highly with the Adapt 'destination' attribute
… all the things we list as destinations are very common things that people want to do on sites
… and such destinations could become well known URLs

+1 to Matt

Symbol Module Implementations

Lionel_Wolberger: Are there any changes in your offering demonstration page about symbols?

Lionel_Wolberger: No progress to report today.

matatk: No, I will be doing this weekend there are couple of things that need to be addressed

matatk: ... I need to improve its accessibility before releasing it

Test to show rendering symbols do not 'break' existing pages
