Meeting minutes

Investigate if tangentialPressure is correctly implemented/working in browsers/documented appropriately in spec

w3c/pointerevents#467

Patrick: Olli responded to this a few minutes ago saying there's code on their macOS side

Olli: there's an older issue that mentions this was implemented on Chrome/mac

Olli: was it ported to windows?

Mustaq: I think the implementation was incomplete

Patrick: I will continue testing on my setup mac/Wacom and report back if i see any actual values being exposed

Alexis Menard presentation

Alexis: wanted to introduce the new proposed API...

[turns out we can't have presentations in webex since PLH is the owner/host of the session, and he'd need to grant permissions.... so we decided to move to Zoom instead]

https://us02web.zoom.us/j/9880060302?pwd=Rmk1MUV2b253RE9tVnBJUkZJZ2QzUT09

Alexis: [presenting Pen Customization API]

<mustaq> FYI: a related proposal in Blink: Intent to Prototype: PointerEvent.deviceId for Mult-Pen Inking

<mustaq> https://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/g/blink-dev/c/_s7rj-CuMF8/m/00QaQRM_AgAJ

related: w3c/pointerevents#353

and WICG/input-device-capabilities#43

Patrick: randomly, as we're talking about using multiple styli simultaneously ... i did a random experiment ages ago with a Surface+Wacom https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHGNU-_FPYw

Patrick: with thanks to Alexis for the presentation. We agreed that at this stage we feel it's worth carrying on under WICG to incubate further, but that we'll pass on feedback, and always happy to issues to be raised back here with us at a later point.
