Meeting minutes

<GeorgeK> I am on Zoom all alone

Infoshare

shawn: Reminder, try to time your publications to avoid the period of 9-20 January 2023 if feasible

MichaelC: Get announcements reviews to WAI Publications prior to that time.

Symbol Registry

<matatk> https://www.w3.org/TR/aac-registry/

matatk: This is being done in collaboration with Bliss Symbolics International (BCI, or Bliss)
… the most comprehensive list of all possible symbol concepts
… permits interchange between symbol sets, now that we have this registry in FPWD
… the Adapt Symbol Module in CR refers to this registry

janina: The fact that symbol sets were not previously interchangeable, blocked the use of symbols on line
… millions of people will potentially beneift

<Zakim> MichaelC, you wanted to aside on parsing gloss

AGWG Equity Group work

MichaelC: Work is ongoing
… where this work should continue will be resolved in the near future

GeorgeK: MathML is currently in Chrome beta. Expected to go live Jan 10 2023

MathML

GeorgeK: MathML is currently in Chrome beta. Expected to go live Jan 10 2023
… Big upside: replace images of mathematical equations

jamesn: We (in ARIA) are aware of discussion regarding how to best do math accessibility
… we prefer this not become an agenda item for ARIA

MichaelC: Noted.

Exploring call times and work mode in new year

MichaelC: We acknowledge that we cannot find a time that works for all participants in all regions
… collecting ideas from this group
… Should we have two meetings in two different slots?

matatk: If there are two separate calls, then each meeting could be an hour long

MichaelC: Also considered a half an hour, once weekly

MichaelC: Let's try a half an hour at a NA/EUR compatible time.

MichaelC: ... I will put out a scheduling survey.

<shawn> [ shawn prefers fewer meetings, yet OK with other's preference]

Brent: Note that people may scan the agenda, then decide nothing is germane for themselves, and send regrets.
… Yet often I find, even when I'm not directly addressed on the agenda, I learn a lot by attending.
… also, perhaps WAI-CC can improve how it collects agenda items.

<Zakim> MichaelC, you wanted to say advance agendas, exciting topics, +1 to survey and to explore agenda call

MichaelC: I am making an effort to send the agenda earlier
… and I am open to putting more exciting topics
… though I have found 'call for agenda' to be just noisy

<Zakim> jamesn, you wanted to say I would love the agenda in the w3c calendar (I know I have said that before too)

jamesn: I subscribe to, and rely on, the W3C calendar. Worth adding this to the calendar

Brent: Suggest that WAI-CC could schedule updates ahead of time, have a particular group present on a particular date
… a more general update as to what they are doing

<shawn> +1 for open to others

<matatk> +1 to learning from people who aren't directly within W3C. I like the sound of the open calls for everyone, hosted by WAI.

MichaelC: Lots of good ideas, thanks

<shawn> Lionel: If goal is to mix, maybe have a meeting called a mixer

<shawn> ... "coordination call" sounds more @@. Important to get more shared group chemistry
