Meeting minutes
emergency use case
noreen: voice is good for hands-free operation
… operating voice activated GPS in extreme weather conditions
… choking victim that needs epi-pen
… audio translation in real time
jim: first two are hands-busy
… also "caring for someone" may have hands-busy situation
bev: epi pen is a good example
… no epipen with speech instructions
… change language of voice interface, speed up
… application could help you go through a checklist
… defibrillators exist in other languages but need to be in a separate device
noreen: just focused on a lay person
debbie: what about interoperability?
bev: interoperability is important in emergencies
bev: interoperability needs to be secure
jim: there need to be redundant ways of presenting information e.g. voice and visual
jim: multiple ways of control, like VCR controls
… to provide care may need to know characteristics of the person being ministered to
… also privacy, maybe shouldn't use speech in certain contexts
noreen: what does consent look like if the person can't respond
… how can information be used without storing it on the device
bev: consent models are difficult if the person can't speak or communicate
… for example, voice change when teeth are removed
jim: also legal issue, who can give consent?
bev: using biometrics is complicated
jim: we need interoperability to bring in other experts
… e.g. legal, medical
bev: the health record complicates things
… not integrated with voice
jim: medical transcription
debbie: GPS might need to interoperate with weather or driving conditions
jim: some emergency systems tell fire-fighters what roads are closed
debbie: what if you want to talk to weather while using GPS? not just an API, but actually talking
jim: we need to know what's available (traffic, weather, etc.) how to access, how to interact with it
… discover, locate and find out how to interact
bev: also how to secure it
debbie: how to introduce security into use case
… what if you need to know person's health situation, that is a problematic security situation
jim: a GPS system can broadcast your situation, this has to be secured.
debbie: you have to give consent
jim: security, privacy, consent apply to all interfaces
… many orthogonal issues need to be resolved
noreen: will add use case to architecture document and create pull request
