Good morning, everybody. My name is Jeff Jaffe, CEO of W3C

It's my pleasure to join you this morning for our member meeting

As we begin this meeting. It's worthwhile to talk about the times we live in during the Covid pandemic

W3C has continued to demonstrate its tremendous value

Much of the world has moved from physical to virtual. The world has largely succeeded, and having continuity of operations due to many of the web technologies that we develop at W3C

Not only has the virtual world worked, but W3C has grown its membership and expanded its program

Of course, it is not a happy situation that this technical success has been achieved

As a result of a global health nightmare, the whole world has suffered, and our technical program has suffered, too

One major way we have suffered has been the lack of personal in-person contact

That aspect is improving, so we have a long way to go

I am so pleased that we are able to get several of us together in China Member Meeting today

although the recent outbreaks have reduced the number of people that are available in Beijing who had planned to come

later this month we will have a global meeting in Vancouver, Canada, although many in our community still face restrictions, and it will be a hybrid meeting with only some of the people in person, and many people participating remotely similarly

this morning I am sad that i'm not physically with you in China, before the pandemic I came to China every year since joining W3C, and I had visited in China over 25 times in my life

I hope that next year we can meet in person

Member meetings give us an opportunity to look back and to look forward

I made a video for the global W3C community and it's available at our Tpac site

This presentation points to our success in executing our W3C Strategy over the last decade were growing. Inclusion of the strong China technical community is featured in this video

Please take time to listen to that recording. Looking forward, I see growing impact, a broadening program

An exciting technology coming out of W3C, from a business point of view, we have very significant programs in improving web advertising

And in web payments, web advertising in particular is an engine which drives much of what happens on the web

it will be transformed by our technologies that enhance advertising while protecting privacy on a pure technology basis enhancements in core graphics

processing the immersive web and the Metaverse will make the Web a much more exciting and engaging place to work

We continue our work in core infrastructure to enhance interoperability and decentralized control

Our mini apps work extends our impact beyond pure web into applications that leverage platform capabilities as well

We have several projects related to credentials and identifiers in a decentralized web, and applications for these core capabilities range from credentials management to what's called by some Web 3.0

Finally, we continue our strong commitment, making the the web the better for society in areas such as accessibility, internationalization, security, and privacy

You'll hear about many of these items these items in your meeting today, but I cannot cover everything in one meeting, our Beihang Team is always available available to help our community in China to learn more about these programs

今天既是W3C的会员大会，同时也是在座各位在不同行业、不同领域凑在一起讨论Web技术发展创新点的技术研讨会，就像主持人说的非常感谢克服重重困难来到杭州现场参加会议的朋友，也非常感谢因为各种原因没有来成现在在线上参会的各位朋友！北航从2006年开始参与Web技术在中国的推广和发展过程，我们从一开始做会员服务为主，到逐步参与到W3C全球治理当中！

应该说这个过程乐趣中国区会员的大力支持，也得到了在座各位非常多的关注和支持，后续北航团队如Jeff所说将一如既往做好Web技术产业在中国的发展和支撑工作，也希望能够为大家、为更多关心Web技术发展、探索Web技术在新领域应用的朋友能够给予更多平台搭建、环境创建！我们特别期待来自中国会员的创新，能够为未来的Web技术发展贡献我们的力量！预祝今天大会圆满成功，预祝各位参会愉快、返程顺利！谢谢！
