Meeting minutes

<satakagi> The ability to zoom and pan portions of the screen is not a standard feature of browsers. However, maps usually require such things.

prushforth: panning and zooming can be challenging for accessibility - but it's a standard pattern of interaction

prushforth: Present updates on polyfill
… there are two custom elements: MapML Viewer and Layer
… the mapping engine is currently Leaflet and it doesn't support advanced features of Google Maps
… we should replace the engine with something more advanced
… suggest we should port the engine to OpenLayers
… could look at a globe type viewer as well

Zakim: to clarify, my advice was to use a standardized syntax for the polyfill to support wider use

prushforth: agreed

prushforth: we need to increase usage and porting to OpenLayers may help

zcorpan: yes it's important to get wide use of the polyfill

<prushforth> ack
