Meeting minutes

Synchronization Accessibility User Requirements.

janina: Messaging has been forwarded and is being reviewed

Inaccessibility of CAPTCHA.

janina: Met with Mano along with Lionel

janina: Going to take advantage of advancing technology with the verifiable credentials working group

janina: Digital wallets are common now, but lack interoperability

janina: In the process, things like passwordless authentication is going in the right direction

jasonjgw: Privacy Pass authentication process is gaining attention

janina: Proxy approach for authentication is a growing trend

janina: Looking at what else can be done with the proxy approach, such as personalization for accessibility configuration

jasonjgw: Right now, we are continuing discussion with the relevant groups until enough is known to revise our document

jasonjgw: We can come back to thins in a few weeks

Accessibility of remote meetings.

jasonjgw: At this point, no substantive comments from the EO working group

jasonjgw: Can start thinking about the publication process

janina: Confirmed in the APA call

scott: We gave some advice on automated captions

scott: But not much included on how to turn them on

jasonjgw: The main concern is allowing automated captions to be turned on by an attendee without the meeting host having to enable it first

jasonjgw: Some small editorial concerns as well, but nothing major

scott: The note on captions makes sense and we can add it

scott: We can examine if our pointer to RTC is sufficient

janina: The caption issue is when the captions have not been prearranged

scott: When the interface makes it hard to enable automated captions is an issue

jasonjgw: Some technologies for the user to do this on a local machine are available

scott: Yes - Windows 11 has this capability

janina: Live meetings are often recorded and then uploaded online

janina: The quality of uploaded recorded captions should be improved before publishing - fixing spelling errors and so forth

janina: The live situation may be more out of sync, but after recording this should be better with closer synchronization

jasonjgw: some apps already provide useful ways of correcting spellings in caption files

janina: The tooling and process needs to also address syncronization

scott: Will look into updating the document to reflect this

scott: Sometimes people use open captions burned into the video, and those cannot be edited, so we'll need to consider how to address issues like that

jasonjgw: I think our approach is to mostly focus on the platform and tool vendors, not so much the meeting organizer

jasonjgw: Let's bring back in future meetings

janina: What about messaging?

jasonjgw: We have earlier versions we can amend

scott: glad to help with updating messaging

jasonjgw: Let's get the current issues resolved first

Accessibility of collaboration tools.

jasonjgw: Began working on a draft based on wiki content

jasonjgw: This is just a basic beginning

jasonjgw: Mostly looks at screen reader use cases so far, because the research base is heavy in that realm

janina: We should include editors notes to state these limitations

jasonjgw: Will open a new repository to deposit the document

jasonjgw: Other comments?

janina: We can look at low-vision and cognitive issues

janina: The ability to have multiple ways of viewing a document during the authoring process

jasonjgw: Intersections with learning and cognitive issues are going to be some of the most difficult

jasonjgw: Keeping the cognitive load under control is difficult

jasonjgw: One the repository is open, I will announce to the mailing list so we can all review

Potential accessibility-related use cases for reporting API.

jasonjgw: There is a wiki page which has been populated from recent meeting discussions

janina: Let's wait two weeks and bring up for meeting discussion

Natural Language Interface Accessibility User Requirements.

jasonjgw: Comments from Kim Patch have been mostly addressed

jasonjgw: Should we merge the changes?

jasonjgw: We have multiple branches with edits

scott: supports merging and accepting changes

jasonjgw: Will merge them; then we can take a look at the resulting documents for final reviews

janina: We should also update github issues with details of how each was addressed

jasonjgw: Other thoughts?

Miscellaneous topics.

jasonjgw: Nothing to bring up in the way of new topics
