Meeting minutes

minutes

<Ege> https://www.w3.org/2022/04/26-wot-marketing-minutes.html

Ege: talked about panel AC presentation
… then about CG charter draft
… we discussed also about PR 309
… we have an update for it today
… minutes looks good, but there's a typo

Kaz: fixed

Ege: minutes approved

Pull requests

Ege: skipping CG charter discussion now since it is going to be long

PR 314

<Ege> PR 314 - refactor: mention and link main wiki/call

<Ege> Issue 308 - Linking to the Main Call Wiki

Ege: daniel fixed issue 308
… looks good to me
… it adds a link to the main call agenda
… any remarks?
… ok then PR merged and issue closed

PR 309

<Ege> PR 309 - Add new tool organization

Ege: a new way to organize tools
… it is better organized
… with icons in a grid layout
… for the future
… I want to add labels next to tool name

McCool: one comment to the look
… hard to read
… the subtitle is better short
… one liner?
… and the long text might be put after the link

dape: I have a similar question
… this page is not consistent to the content of the other pages
… it does not have an intial heading or paragraph

McCool: maybe a simple text introducing the page

Cristiano: I would just give a little bit more of withespace between icons and the list

PR 392

<Ege> PR 392 - [wot] First draft of the CG charter

Ege: I published the CG charter proposal in the right repository

<Ege> https://htmlpreview.github.io/?https://github.com/egekorkan/charter-drafts/blob/gh-pages/2022/wot-cg-2022.html

Ege: quite basic charter description
… I reviewed Japanese CG too
… we should focus on goals and scope of work
… open points: dependencies with no w3c group? contribution mechanics

McCool: the first line should be more around community instead of WoT

Ege: I agree

Cristiano: +1

McCool: then we can talk about the activities

Kaz: quick comment
… it depends on the policy but it might be easier to concentrate on one specific section and discuss it in one call

Ege: understood
… we can create issues for specific charter in the repository linked above
… also the charter will be reviewed by the community as regulated
… any other remarks?

Cristiano: maybe we can use the issues to talk about the problems that we pinpointed in the document

Ege: yeah for example the chair selection is not clear

McCool: I agree we should choose one mode or the other
… also we should think better about the process
… we need to make sure that it is airtight
… what happens if there are no 5 people? or if there is only people from one organization?

Ege: kaz do you know if can change that part of the charter?

Kaz: it was not meant to be changed but there is room for improvement

<Ege> https://github.com/w3c/charter-drafts/issues/393

Kaz: community group is quite large already right?

Ege: yeah yesterday we got a new member
… btw I'm also opening a new issue about contribution mechanics

Cristiano: maybe the contribution section should contain more informative text about how people can operate within the group

Ege: I think this is going to be the first issue of our own group

Cristiano: yeah just remember that to update the charter we should follow a long process...
… on the other hand, I agree with you that is too early to decide how people can contribute

<Ege> https://github.com/w3c/charter-drafts/issues/394

issues

Ege: we have three issues open about collaboration with the CG

Cristiano: I think we can move the discussion to the charter document

Kaz: the charter is important but you should clarify first your expectation as chairs

<Mizushima> +1 kaz

Kaz: then write the charter
… have you talked with Ian Jacobs for the repository ?

Ege: not yet but I will

<Ege> https://github.com/w3c/wot-cg

Ege: what the name should be?

Cristiano: +1 looks good

<Ege> https://github.com/w3c/wot-community

<Ege> https://github.com/w3c/wot-community-group

https://github.com/w3c/web-thing-protocol

issue 305

<Ege> https://github.com/w3c/wot-marketing/issues/305

Ege: we should target these conferences
… who is going to present? and what?
… I was thinking about discovery

Cristiano: seems a good idea

Ege: aob ?
… ok meeting adjourned

<kaz> [adjourned]
