Meeting minutes

TPAC feedback and lessons learned

janina: unique zoom id for each meeting should have been resolved, should have been able to conference in two Id's. request.
… , passwords should not be long and complicated too excessive.

Becky: getting an email code logging into CVent every day seems excessive. why that much extra security.

<Lionel_Wolberger_> Lionel has to step away

Matthew_Atkinson: mainly due to zoom bombing if posted more publicly. wasn't a problem last year but I am not aware.
… , They need our help with.

sharon: agenda had oct 25 vs. 27 but a different time, not sure how I got that wrong.

janina: I went to CVent and added to my google calendar you must go all around back in, I am just signing up for the meeting and not added to my calendar.

Matthew_Atkinson: Mike didn't have a good TPAC, we are pleased to have in back.

Mike: I am disappointed that I missed the events. congrats to Matthew_Atkinson for doing well. Regrets for missing.

CharlesL: Really upset with some links were included when adding to calendar and others you had to go 5 min before to get the link to each meeting.

Matthew_Atkinson: anxiety issues came up, Judy mentioned that they were trying to send out links if you registered ahead of time.

Janina: document on not track on APA. (Research Questions TF). FPWD open for comment open for comment through mid November.

Follow-up on i18n issue #144  https://github.com/w3c/personalization-semantics/issues/144

Charles: all I was tasked to do is get a recipe and give it to Steve and that is what I did.

sharon: Right Steve was going to add the symbols. which is being done I believe.

<janina> RQTF's Remote Meetings A11y FPWD: https://www.w3.org/TR/remote-meetings/

Matthew_Atkinson: RtoL inline images the positions are correct and reversed. Challenge is the "proper" is above the words for the symbols but that would involve styling and see how that behaves, with that work Steve is doing. Current stuff inline works.

<Lionel_Wolberger_> Lionel is back

John: She works at a university, E A Graffin.
… , I have know her for a decade she goes by "EA"

sharon: are we waiting on Steve then? since this is the last issue for CR

Janina: does Steve has what he needs? Do we have the pieces to render this?

sharon: Charles do you have this?

Charles: No I don't have a renderer

sharon: Looks like we need to figure out how to place the pictures above.

Matthew_Atkinson: last meeting came with the recommendation that it came with a recipe, which we went with. I agree rendering is the issue now. all we need from charles is the basic text.

Charles: I can create an EPUB fine but that would be only for the text of the recipe not the symbols.

Matthew_Atkinson: Steve can add the symbols but we need to then map the Bliss symbols mapping to our spec.

Janina: I am looking for him to the Bliss IDs. Whatever we render based on some user choice. I don't remember if the old Chrome / FF plugins will do this.
… , I haven't talked to Steve during TPAC

sharon: Charles will get 1 recipe in EPUB an and give to Steve and Janina.
… , then we will have steve add the Symbols.

Janina: going to APA for consensus will take about a week.

Lionel_Wolberger_: Charles when you make that little EPUB. we want the Hebrew and in English. for internationalization. Sample EPUB "Recipe in Hebrew and in English". Then Charles creates the sample EPUB. then Steve will propose the markup then we may have a rendering problem but internationalization was tackling at the core 1 symbol per word.

<JF> +1 to that Lionel

Charles: EPUB has xhtml files which can be modified and viewed outside the EPUB in a browser with our plugins potentially.

Lionel_Wolberger_: I propose: charles EPUB in Hebrew and English? any issues?

janina: I would love to see this interleaved but that could be a problem.

Lionel_Wolberger_: recipe in English and same in Hebrew. no one objects to this
… , Steve will engage with, Charles suggest he modify the xhtml files himself, Lionel_Wolberger_ suggests he does it out of band. Steve could just 1 or two lines so he can work faster. anyone object?

Matthew_Atkinson: Would we need to do the entire recipe for CR?

Janina: I don't think so… If its an implementation from Benetech or some Publisher. We are trying to answer a I18N issue here.
… , I am all for getting an implementation here but we are only answering a horizontal review concern.
… , Steve may want more direction from us.

Janina: or give us the ID's in a word file for each word file, then we can mark it up.

Lionel_Wolberger_: we are only concered about LtoR and RtoL. Doing 1 - 3 lines. Inline and recreate the EPUB.
… , Charles creates the EPUB with 2 languages. Steve will suggest the changes for adding symbols, then Charles will create the final EPUB with the symbols

CR template - https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-personalization-tf/2021Sep/0026.html

sharon: link to the email / discussion email had the updates to be made and XAUR comments, what else do we need to do. Lisa is off, Lionel_Wolberger_ is on, etc.

janina: we will handle all that.. .Shawn Henry for the announcements.
… , XAUR?

sharon: we discussed this draft in the Personalization meeting, Roy will provide a readable version or login

<Roy> https://www.w3.org/WAI/cc/wiki/WAI_Announcement_Drafts

janina: are Lionel_Wolberger_ and sharon able to read that announcements page?

Roy: I have already added them to this page. with your w3c accounts.
… , there is a lot of news in different sections, I would like to update your email to this website.

sharon: personalization stuff to get up to date.

janina: on this for we get the announcement up to date here. Yes you and Lionel_Wolberger_ and XAUR was to show you what was acceptable as an announcement.

<Roy> https://www.w3.org/WAI/cc/wiki/index.php?title=WAI_Announcement_Drafts&diff=993&oldid=992

janina: , right that was completed and there are two more coming this week.
… , thats an APA issue and Research Qestions. Shawn will accept based on this template.
… , then this becomes official W3C messaging.

Lionel_Wolberger_: I will check during planning that everything is available etc.

sharon: Now that John all your changes are merged, and we can now look at open issues and see what our next steps are for module 2.
… , #87 is very old.

<sharon> https://github.com/w3c/personalization-semantics/issues/87

sharon: , combine module with COGA semantics.

JF: what does that mean?
… , 3 modules had a lot of input from COGA and from Lisa. I would close this with a note that we continue to work with COGA and will ask COGA for comments with them.

Janina: we will not have COGA do a separate review but they can participate in the wide review. I won't do a informal agreement with COGA. Sorry we can't do any special agreement. We will work with them but nothing formally defined.
… we will solicit comments through normal channels. Not enough time during our meeting

sharon: consider semantics for different routes.
… , conflicting requirements may need different routes.

<Matthew_Atkinson> https://github.com/w3c/personalization-semantics/issues/160

sharon: , John sent a link step indicator, and Lisa may need to redesign module 1 & 2

Janina: this is "Silver" path.

sharon: Becky this year thanks for your comment and different routes, and that this may be beyond the scope of this module.

Janina: we don't want to go in a different direction than silver.

JF: maybe work together with Silver.
… , modules 2&3 when we start to do that we can ask them for comments.

sharon: right now in both modules,

JF: lets park this until we get to 2&3 and wait for Silver to engage with this issue.

Matthew_Atkinson: breakout session Nigel fingerprinting issue, we should have a github issue on the feedback we got so we keep track of it, and I have some thoughts on this. Is everyone happy to create a github issue.

Janina: or ask him to do it, so the BBC owns it. I have the contact info. especially if we invoke his name / handle.
… I will send you an him an email to share and ask him to file a github issue.

<Matthew_Atkinson> https://github.com/w3c/personalization-semantics/issues/160

<sharon> https://github.com/w3c/personalization-semantics/issues

Lionel_Wolberger_: When does our module overlap with Silver.

janina: we only have Module 2&3 which may overlap with the step indicator.
