AG Status Update

Rachael: AG status update. Still continuing to work on getting Silver out the door. Several objections to address, hope to respond today. Won't be quite ready yet.
... WCAG 2.2 continues on. Don't think we have any other updates.
... Any q? for AG chairs?

Wilco: Anything you can share about the objections?

<Rachael> Chuck: 4 objections came in. 4 anonymous, 3 not. We are dealing iwth process questions w/ W3 administration and that is the part we are working through right now.

<Rachael> Rachael: One objection has been resolved.

<Rachael> Shawn: Likely not in December?

<Rachael> Chuck: Likely not

<Rachael> Shawn: We didn't want to put out announcements and then go on vacation

Shawn: Given the timing it's best from announcements to wait until January.

Michael: Judy thinks otherwise, but I agree with Shawn.

Shawn: I think I convinced her.

Michael: I replied to you Shawn suggestion you join AG chairs call 3 hours from now, to talk about some issues.
... For Rachael and Chuck, just wanted you to know I extended invitation.

Shawn: Any chance we have time end of this meeting? We can see how it plays out.

Rachael: I don't expect this will go the full hour.
... Any other AG updates?

Task force update and discussion

Rachael: What's happening in your TFs?

Wilco: Not a lot, same stuff. Working through rules, getting new rules from community group. We are processing them. We are stuck on one thing that AG could help on.

<shadi> issue #1500

Wilco: Question on 1.4.1, about whether sufficient brightness is sufficient to distinguish links in blocks of text.

<shadi> https://github.com/w3c/wcag/pull/1500

Rachael: Email to AG group? Or discussion?

Wilco: No preference, doesn't seem good for email though.

Rachael: LML, I thought there was an answer already. We can talk about it later and put you on the schedule.

Shadi: Would be helpful, unsure if it will be addressed in next release. If part of WCAG 2.2.

Rachael: I don't think it's in 2.2.
... After 2.2 goes out, we have a rescheduling time to do cleanup and address issues. But wouldn't occur in next few months.

<Rachael> ACTION: Rachael will look for answer and then schedule time on the AG meeting to talk

<trackbot> Created ACTION-347 - Will look for answer and then schedule time on the ag meeting to talk [on Rachael Montgomery - due 2020-12-09].

Shadi: If I hear correctly, either there is a response/answer that you will clarify, or it's still pending, and the group will get to it after 2.2.

Rachael: I'll look for an answer, may be pending. I commit to crafting time.

Wilco: Group seems divided on issue. Looks like interpretation has evolved over time. Do we use new or old interpretation?

Rachael: Sounds like a survey.

Wilco: Also required for WAI tools.

Shadi: Came from community group work. It's holding up a rule. Do we want to pursue it or park it?

Wilco: That's it from us.

Rachael: That was ACT, next?

Steve: Coga... you triggered a discussion on multiple pages, for finding help. TF will discuss this. We are working through on the issues that have been raised.
... A bit behind where we planned to be. In terms of patterns, we are reviewing 5 or 6 of them, and improving issues on them all.

Rachael: Nothing from me on Coga.
... Need to touch base with low vision. Anybody from mobile?
... Anybody from Silver?

Jeanne: We are in a transition phase, trying to start working on next draft. Because publication has taken longer than expected, it's been challenging.
... Don't want to lose momentum while various publishing issues get sorted out.
... Major things I'd like to move forward, training for people who want to work on new guidelines. That's my first priority.
... I have a list in my mind, but not coming to surface. Next thing is working on next draft.

Rachael: Regards to training, will be open to other groups? Other TF?

Jeanne: Oriented towards TF, so that they can start contributing guidelines to future drafts of Silver.

Rachael: Once we have some good solid feedback from FPWD, we will be in much more focused place to start getting more input.

Jeanne: In meantime we can do work to get ready for next draft.

Rachael: Any q for Jeanne?
... Anybody I missed? We covered all but mobile.

Review actions

Rachael: First 2 actions are "mine", virtual discussions. I have a doodle poll for picking times.
... Does that seem reasonable approach?

Wilco: That's fine.

Rachael: We'll set up some times after I get feedback. We'll determine topics.
... Mary Jo and Kathy not here, anybody know status on WCAG2ICT?

Shadi: Kathy was trying to schedule something, but I don't think it happened. Think she will try again.

Rachael: Shawn, pointing Michael to minimal headers.

Michael: It's implemented now.
... I may need to confirm.

Rachael: Any other actions we should discuss?
... Is there a topic for next meeting anybody wants to raise?

Shadi: debrief on holidays!

Wilco: How the TF can integrate with Silver. Very interested in that. We haven't gone very far in ACT.

<Rachael> Next Meeting: Discuss more how taskforces can integrate with Silver.

Rachael: Will add to agenda for next meeting. We might also have a training before that.

Shadi: Is that for virtual meeting? What's the purpose of virtual meeting?

Rachael: Have virtual chat sessions, and to have a broad group. Meant to be informal. We couldn't get together at CSUN and TPAC.
... Also to set up formal topics in our discussions. Meant to be less formal.

Shadi: Maybe Jan discussion would lead to topics in virtual meetings.

Rachael: Good way forward. Jeanne, are you comfortable with that topic next time?
... I'll follow up with Jeanne at a later point.
... Michael, can we get reminder emails again?

Michael: I'll look into it. Thunderbird issues maybe.

Rachael: Thanks. We've come to end of agenda. We can focus in on Silver next time. Thank you all for attending after short notice.

Shawn: Can Rachael and Chuck stay on?

Rachael: Meeting adjourned.
