Jeremy introduces joint OGC/W3C group
Jeremy: Rob will bring up TPAC topics and WebVMT
Jeremy: this BP has seen good uptake in community and we are proposing a revision and Clara Boyd, lead editor, will give us a report of her assessment
Clara: I took up editor role for this revision, coming from an accessibility point of view, ensuring people can use this information
<jtandy> * GoToMeeting details: https://www4.gotomeeting.com/join/225942517
Clara: the document is very
technical which is needed but could see some improvement for
wider audience
... linked data section a bit confusing to read. the document
was published a couple years ago now and want to make sure best
practices are up to date
... focus on changes that have occurred since
... encourage people come to me about items they would like to
see covered that aren't
... looking for interested parties to revise specific sections
of interest
... my priority is around making it more accessible and
current
... interested to hear about others' initial thoughts
Jeremy: in terms of getting work underway, how do you want to organize the working team? focused meetings every couple weeks, take pass at next draft yourself..?
Clara: holding a workshop session of sorts to get input
<LieberJosh> Would it make sense to make requests for input from individual OGC working groups?
Jeremy: anyone keen to help get
Clara started?
... ideally someone with github skills
Joe: I'm willing
Jeremy: we've collated a set of issues...
<jtandy> https://github.com/w3c/sdw/issues/1179
Jeremy: we have outlined some of the things we want to do
<brinkwoman> We could also do some outreach. Ask those we know have implemented our best practices to tell us how they did it and what they have learned. Or a wider call for experiences
Jeremy: agreement best practices
themselves and examples need updates
... opportunity for new examples, additional topics should
refer to corresponding OGC API work
... what is wrong with SDI? need to update that section. there
is a heavy RDF bias although in practice more are using web
linking
... tile concepts and coordinate reference systems, schema.org
updates...
... Bill wants spatial and non-spatial linked better based on
OGC work. GeoJSON for examples
... Rob A has thoughts on JSON-LD context files
<jonyu> i can help with updating examples potentially from some work here in Australia
Jeremy: make them modular and
easier to generate/use
... we are looking forward to Clara's perspective
... anything to add?
Clara: no, just encourage people to get involved
Jeremy: when do you expect to get started in earnest?
Clara: in coming weeks
Jeremy: Linda, Ted and I will be
working on our recharter as a Working Group and will have a
close to final draft next week
... Ted will bring through W3C process and Scott review from
OGC side
Jeremy: demo time!
RobS: WebVMT is about
synchronizing video location for the web
... quick intro, there is an editor's draft online
<RobSmith> https://w3c.github.io/sdw/proposals/geotagging/webvmt/
<RobSmith> https://webvmt.org/
RobS: homepage has blog, demos
and more digestible than the spec
... it synchronizes out of bound metadata
... there is a metadata format from Motion Imagery
Standards Board (MISB) for embedding whereas
we would prefer separate linked data and move it to moving
object
... direct GPS feed suffers from coverage outages/gaps
[Rob projects screen to share video demo with realtime map showing corresponding location]
<jtandy> * 5 mins Rob :-)
RobS: I have a proposal for test
bed 17 for adding mpeg4 and a search engine demo
... you can designate location you are interested in and
eliminate videos that do not match
... that is powerful and want to investigate further, seeking
sponsors
... any questions?
Jeremy: clearly you have been perfect in your presentation...
RobS: I am planning a breakout
session on this subject at W3C TPAC
... I will propose exporting video metadata for the web
... we have been looking at different formats (MISB, GPMF, SRT already in WebVMT)
... WebVMT doesn't seek to replace any format
... trajectory, ascent etc as well as handling sensor
representation in scope
<jtandy> (from GoToMeeting chat: @NicholasCar says: I use lots of .srt files for foreign (to me) movies)
RobS: my proposal is to raise
issues in github before the breakout session so we can make
some meaningful statements and progress there
... interested in guidance from social data
Jeremy: TPAC is 26-30 October and self organized joint meetings prior to that
RobS: yes as well as a preliminary discussion hopefully during SDW group meeting
Jeremy: yes, we intend to get that going and will discuss that next week
RobS: is SDW on TPAC agenda?
Jeremy: no, not yet and need to
get that sorted
... happy to get things organized for that breakout session
[adjourned]
