Use Cases and Gap-Analysis document

issue created for merging examples

irfan_: we're looking for examples from epub
... we spoke last week about symbols, notation, and pronunciation

George: there are some symbols that mean different things based on context in chemistry

janina: that's what we need

George: the math group is trying to put more semantic information into the markup to help identify what it is

janina: only the pronunciation is in scope for this group

paul_grenier: we'd like to also show off the range of capability in ssml if possible

janina: we haven't spoke much about creating a lexicon per domains

<George> Tijnie Jansen <TijnieJansen@dedicon.nl>

George: has the group spoken to from (see below) Dedicon?

janina: we need to close the loop there

George: he's doing all kinds of research on this and he's aware of the TF work

irfan_: can you send an introduction email for me, janina, and markku?

George: sounds good
... right now, there's a working group charter for epub3 and we're merging publishing community groups into the publishing community group and in that group we want to incubate any kind of tech that would make it into the epub systems

<Christine> Just checked the Dedicon website, Tijnie is a woman. See her info at https://www.dedicon.nl/onze-experts/medewerkers/tijnie-jansen

janina: we're looking at the wicg which includes publishing because this is more general for the web

George: read-aloud functionality is very high demand and many things need this tech
... I will take an action item to connect with Dedicon and contact the chairs of the publishing community group
... many applications have read-aloud functionality and publishers are very interested in better pronunciation which is amplified by the recent virus issues with circulating physical books

janina: we surfaced another user case

Technical Approach Document

Paul: https://github.com/w3c/pronunciation/pull/54

irfan_: we want a date for first public working draft for technical approach
... then we can move to the wicg
... is end of June reasonable?

janina: I'm comfortable reviewing if others are comfortable with the writing

<Roy> https://github.com/w3c/pronunciation/wiki#timeline

New Membership

irfan: Peter from texthelp who proactively implemented our recommendations

Other Business

janina: we want to figure out who to have a joint meeting with at TPAC
... think in the October time frame, it may be in person or remote
