Resolution: accept https://www.w3.org/2020/03/17-dxwg-minutes
DCAT v3
<PWinstanley> Riccardo polled and there is an interest in starting some DCAT v3 sprints after Easter
<PWinstanley> We already have milestones and issues tagged as future work in the repo
<alejandra> https://github.com/w3c/dxwg/milestone/27
<PWinstanley> Can we extend the involvement to include orgs interested in FAIR etc?
alejandra: I believe Makx is involved with FAIR
… I think he won't be able to join the calls, but it would be good to keep him involved. He has always contributed with good comments
PWinstanley: We need to reach out to the newer ones. I can do that
… do you know people involved on GO FAIR group?
… any with W3C member organizations?
alejandra: yes, but I don't know if their organizations are filiated to W3C
PWinstanley: Are there other ways we might be able to expand number representing organizations in the meeting?
alejandra: Maybe W3C would have a way to connect to the organizations
plh: We have the liason page
<plh> https://www.w3.org/2001/11/StdLiaison.html
PWinstanley: Njei replied, didn't he?
<PWinstanley> https://www.go-fair.org/
<plh> https://www.w3.org/Member/ACList
Caroline_: I can check wich Brazilians are still afilliated and also reach Karen Myers for help
PWinstanley: Before Easter we can have people reaching out people to involve more participants
… to have more perspectives and also as we move towards agile standards we need more people to review
… we can reach out more organizations than we have considered in the past
Caroline_: We can send an email to the group about it
<PWinstanley> https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-dwbp-wg/2015Jul/att-0010/DCAT-APimplementationguide.pdf
PWinstanley: that was a primer related to DCAT back to 2015
… maybe we need to reach people with information manager backgroud or so
annette_g: I agree that we should be aiming for other than specialists
… as we make easier for people to pick up it would be better
PWinstanley: mayve we can have a single page telling a story and showing the benefits
… to make it attractive
… we could use canva or similar tools to creat materials
alejandra: I agree with both of you
… It would be welcome if we do use case focus
… if you need to publish data on the web this is what you can do
… so we can come back to the use cases
<PWinstanley> Caroline_: I agree - we have just discussed in our team - we will write an article or blog post but are still working on where to target it.
<PWinstanley> ... I will share the portuguese version
<PWinstanley> ... The communications team is looking at how to promote DXWG in Brazil.
<PWinstanley> ... Our stakeholders don't understand the importance of DXWG. We are trying to reach more people in Brazil. We need to explain to them the work of the group
PWinstanley: wehn we have something or Brazil we can also try to reach other countries that speak Portuguese
… we can look how we can maximize the utilities to reach globably
We are just in the beggining of this post that explains about the DXWG work in Portuguese :)
PWinstanley: If people knew about DCAT and how it could be used in different contexts they would be thinking about using it
… there are a lot of people from high school works that could be using it
… many people on database area are not exposed to RDF and it is likely they won't be exposed to DCAT, ontology etc
… what do you think about stretching DCAT on other W3C data models
alejandra: I agree and I would go back on my previews comments on the use cases
… we have some use cases that can help us with the examples
<alejandra> http://urssi.us/blog/2020/03/11/the-research-software-alliance-resa-and-the-community-landscape/
alejandra: in other work I am involved it could be useful
… see the link above
… this was to reach out the same message to more people
… the same blog post cross posted in different relevant places
PWinstanley: I was talking to XX and his organization is looking to the development of convert accelerator
… we can deal with the urssi and also policy agencies
… NSF, office of integrative activities and similar in other countries
alejandra: I agree. It is an example of how different organizations coordinate the disseminations
<PWinstanley> Caroline_: to add - I think libraries would be a good audience for us. they can also help us. we don't have many involved in DXWG from libraries
PWinstanley: this has been a very helpfull conversation with new ideas
… we can use the wiki to start putting down people/organizations we can reach
… so we can try to get different people to join DCAT and we can popularize the work we are doing
… getting more people to use DCAT 2
