APG 1.2 Release 1 Plan

<Jemma> two agenda under this topic are 1)release plan and 2)tabbed carousel

APG 1.2 Release 1 Plan Status

https://github.com/w3c/aria-practices/wiki/APG-1.2-Release-1-Plan

jon: let's add coverage report to next week's agenda

mck: yep

<MarkMccarthy> MarkMccarthy: +1 to Jon's request - ty Matt

jon: then we can start adding data attributes

mck: when are we doing PR?

jamesn: we're not even in CR yet, it won't be March
... meeting agenda on Thurs is to go through all 1.2 comment issues and resolve them
... minimum 30 days in CR
... realistically, it will be PR in the first half of the year
... APG can be ready before ARIA

<Jemma> (I added Jon's coverage reoport to next week meeting agenda list.)

mck: our priorities are Combobox, Carousel, editorial, other bugs - for this release
... let's talk about Carousel

sarah: pause on mouse hover is still confusing

<Jemma> https://github.com/w3c/aria-practices/pull/1120#pullrequestreview-349193455

<jamesn> IMO if you are confused by it we should change the behaviour

<MarkMccarthy> +1

<Jemma> From Sarah "I still find the hover/focus pausing behavior and aria-live region when paused to be rather confusing, but if everyone else thinks that's desired behavior then the current logic works."

sarah: would it be ok to not have the carousel pause on hover?
... at minimum, the play/pause button needs to reflect the actual state
... you cannot toggle the play/pause button if the mouse happens to be over the carousel

jemma: we've talked about this before

jon: what exactly is being requested?

sarah: magnification software, moving the mouse to zoom around the photo pauses and it would be very hard to resume

mck: don't pause if it's already hovered?

sarah: if the user has interacted with the play/pause button, then from that point forward, respect what the user has chosen

mck: if you tab to the play/pause, and do not activate it, then tab to tablist it automatically stops

sarah: yes

<sarah_higley> if focus is inside of a slide that becomes hidden, then focus needs to be reset to the tablist to prevent it constantly changing

sarah: if you are a keyboard user and you want the carousel to keep rotating, you can't tab past the carousel without pausing

mck: user hasn't explicitly said pause yet, so could start rotating again

car: Sarah has volunteered to write some code for this

Combobox

mck: Sarah did an extensive code review

<Jemma> https://github.com/w3c/aria-practices/pull/1276#partial-pull-merging

mck: one functional bug, editorial is done, visual review and accessibility review are waiting on Zoƫ Bijl

<Jemma> https://github.com/w3c/aria-practices/pull/1276#issuecomment-557821794

<Jemma> what Carolyn helped with

mck: 6 issues will be fixed by Jon's PR

<Jemma> Matt is talking about "linked issues" on the right section

<Jemma> There are 5 linked issues.
