<scribe> ACTION: Charles will change distraction advertisement to offer and update the description.

<trackbot> Created ACTION-21 - Will change distraction advertisement to offer and update the description. [on Charles LaPierre - due 2019-11-25].

John: Concern around the definition of animation as computer generated. Auto-updating is different then auto-starting. Animation can be draw or computer generated. Want to be sure the definitions are clear.

Charles: Is there a more generic term for anything that moves?

John: Need to have a clearer definition.

Charles: Any objections to expanding the definition?

John: What about VR?

Charles: This does not include AR and VR because that is a completely different environment.

Lisa: Couple of suggestions, do we also need them to work together with help module. In our examples we need to make a use case when a user needs to control it.

<Zakim> janina, you wanted to ask whether JF's good point implies a cutout for a11y services like AIRA?

<JF> +1 to Janina

Janina: We are giving user configurability on behaviors. A single modality may not cut it.
... We need to have cut outs for accessibility services and we should note that they exist.

Charles: Expand definition for distraction and animation. Add AR and VR as potentially being distractions?

John: Struggle is that we do not have enough data to have a well formed opinion. At this time its to early to say and it is out of scope.

<JF> animation Content that moves on screen, which has a timeline. Animiation can include animated graphic files (e.g. animated GIFs), video content, or more traditional forms of "animation (e.g. cartoons or drawn animations). Editor's Note: At this time, the Task Force recognizes XR (Augmented Reality / Virtual Reality) as a form of moving content, but may be out of scope for this requirement.

<CharlesL> Becky's proposal:

<CharlesL> Moving information that starts automatically without user interaction that is presented in parallel with other content.

<CharlesL> for Auto-Start def.

<scribe> ACTION: Charles will update definitions in the main module and table.

<trackbot> Created ACTION-22 - Will update definitions in the main module and table. [on Charles LaPierre - due 2019-11-25].

Charles: Include text moving across the screen in animation definition.

John: Auto updating is not on a timeline. Animations is something that has a start and stop to it.

<JF> Information that is presented in parallel with other content and updates frequently with or without user interaction, unless the auto-updating is part of an activity where it is essential.

<scribe> ACTION: Charles to update auto-updating definition to this new definition.

<trackbot> Created ACTION-23 - Update auto-updating definition to this new definition. [on Charles LaPierre - due 2019-11-25].

Charles: Should we add ticker example?

<CharlesL> ACTION: Charles to add example: Examples: A text based stock ticker that starts and displays upon page load would have data-distraction=“auto-starting auto-updating.” A count-down timer that  that starts at the user’s request and updates in real-time the hours, minutes, and seconds until an event would have data-distraction=“auto-updating."

<trackbot> Created ACTION-24 - Add example: examples: a text based stock ticker that starts and displays upon page load would have data-distraction=“auto-starting auto-updating.” a count-down timer that  that starts at the user’s request and updates in real-time the hours, minutes, and seconds until an event would have data-distraction=“auto-updating." [on Charles LaPierre - due 2019-11-25].

<CharlesL> proposal: An embedded interface to enable real-time interaction of text-based messages between a sender and a receiver that does not need to be initiated by the user.

<CharlesL> proposal: An embedded interface to enable real-time interaction of messages between a sender and a receiver that is not initiated by the user.
