TPAC and holidays

Janina: WebApps was asking for meetings by last Friday. I sent a message asking for an extention.
... I assume we want to talk to webapps from this task force.

Lisa: are they comfortable with our current implementation and showing them some examples that we have / demos etc.

Janina: I am glad to hear this which is what I was thinking.

Roy: I agree with lisa, show them data-

Lisa: and when they see it working with a demo, we want buy-in from them.
... show them user testing etc.

Janina: Looks like it will come in right at the end, before TPAC.

<LisaSeemanKest> https://mycult-5c18a.firebaseapp.com/

Janina: any chance for a stable URI? where the demo is going to be

Lisa: its not stable yet.

Janina: the more I can give them today, send them to 2 documents we have and the explainer, and if we have a demo then that would be very powerful if we have a stable URI.

Lisa: you can use this page now, (we can keep it stable over the next few months) but you need an extension.

Charles: where do we get the extension?

https://mycult-5c18a.firebaseapp.com/

Charles: ask them to update the page to include the extension.

Janina: that is not a W3C page, can we make it one?

Lisa: I think we can do that.

Janina: we can create a page on our own wiki that will include links to the explainer, our two documents, how to get the extension and then link to the demo page https://mycult-5c18a.firebaseapp.com/

<Roy> https://github.com/w3c/personalization-semantics/wiki#some-useful-links

Roy: there is also a demo section on this page.

Lisa: we can just update that page.

Janina: that will work too.

<LisaSeemanKest> https://drive.google.com/open?id=1fCg8Z8bFusv0w0GUg7QfpoJbe0NR50Oh

Lisa: here is the link to the extension

<LisaSeemanKest> https://personalization-f08cf.firebaseapp.com/

Janina: if we update the demo page to include all to the other pages.

Lisa: yes we can do that.

Charles: what page should Janina work?

Lisa: links to better use-cases, the other is a wiki page on implementation and update it to current up at the top.

Janina: 2 is fine but 1 link is better

<LisaSeemanKest> https://github.com/w3c/personalization-semantics/wiki/Implementations-of-Semantics

Lisa: we will have to update that with the new links.

Janina: can we do that today?
... that page is too complicated.

<LisaSeemanKest> https://github.com/w3c/personalization-semantics/wiki/Getting-started-with-personalization-semantics

Lisa: maybe the getting started page.

Charles: I think we need a new page.

<LisaSeemanKest> set up a difrent profile https://personalization-f08cf.firebaseapp.com/

<LisaSeemanKest> 1. download and instal the extention (devloper mode

<LisaSeemanKest> 2. set up a profile https://personalization-f08cf.firebaseapp.com/

Charles: this new page will link to our explainer, to the 3 modules, to the extension for the demo and link to the demo page, with the caveat that this demo uses the original implementation and that we will be updating it to use the new data-symbol

<LisaSeemanKest> 3. test it at "wiki page"

<LisaSeemanKest> also add the link to usecases

Lisa: to update the use-cases for better examples for symbols.

Janina: setting up the profile that shows the power of symbol translation and facilitating communication of different symbol sets
... mutually unintelligible symbol systems, we can facilitate communication.
... we should update all the pages by TPAC.
... makes it harder for folks coming to look at this and figure out what we are doing.

<LisaSeemanKest> https://github.com/w3c/personalization-semantics/wiki/Use-cases

Charles: Sharon, can you update some of the wiki pages to make sure we don't have any aui- instead of data-

Sharon: Sure I can do that, just be helpful to know where to start

Lisa: different use-cases are very important, 30 people and 5 symbol sets is a harder case
... , having those examples will be helpful.
... , maybe we should move to stories and remove the summary

Sharon: I should start with getting started and use-cases?

Charles: Yes sounds good.

Lisa: Sharon are you going to TPAC?

Sharon: No I can't make it.

Charles: TPAC we have: Charles, Janina, and possibly Lisa

Roy will also be there.

Lisa: was hoping this could be a F2F but doesn't sound like this will happen.

Charles: maybe 5-10 minutes with WebApps for this TF possibly

Lisa: we should talk about a F2F.

Janina: +13 hours from USA Eastern. so having a meeting first thing in the morning if we want participate from the USA.. but we may not have control over that.

Charles: we could have our meeting with APA first thing if Sharon / Becky want to join.

what we agree on symbol and what we can put off to advanced (for a later date)

Holidays

<LisaSeemanKest> sharon on vaction from mthe 24th 3 week

Charles: I am out Aug 5th

Janina: 2nd of September Labor Day

Lisa: we need to find out with John and Becky.

Roy: I will be off Aug 19- Sept 1

TPAC

Lisa: in the email I sent to Charles/Janina/Steve should we connect with Web of Things?

Janina: do we want apps that control Nest and other devices?
... , agree it may be an good idea talking to Josh O'Connor with the use-case of using symbols

Lisa: heating system with on/off and be able to personalize with symbols
... story: her dad needed live-in help, for heating you had to switch the mode from cold to hot to raise the temperature. let user override it.

Janina: this is an everyone use-case, tab-able, you can swipe to them etc.

Lisa: another thing everyone in accessibility COGA in data driven systems you can get a group of people on that it inaccessible and you are not aware they are struggling.

<Roy> https://www.w3.org/auto/wg/

Roy: use-case for web (Ted) automotive WG he is interested on personalized semantics for automotive implementation.

Janina: I am stopping in SF on way to Japan, workshop at Uber, I have been accepted. Ted and I will be talking.

Lisa: Publishing, where we are overlapping are they reviewing what they are doing. Do they need 1/2 more things harmonize with them.

Janina: 1-3pm on Thursday with APA / Publishing (Avneesh locked that in)

Lisa: call with ARIA when you use Action you imply its a button. There are a lot of implied roles data-purpose should there be a mapping? it implies its a button.

Janina: ARIA is primarily for Screen Reader users, but Read Aloud may want to map symbols for words.

Lisa: suggesting where you have data-action="undo" you imply a role of button.

Charles: I don't think we want to be tied to that and have to then implement the button functionality etc.

Lisa: I think we want to maintain harmony with ARIA. So it shouldn't be at TPAC.

Janina: I don't think we should start it there, we should broach the subject in the APA meeting where Joanie is present.

Lisa: I thought it was going to be part of ARIA originally.
... , we may want to state that there are implied roles.
... , question is do we want them to have to state the role (text field, button, etc.)

Janina: if you want to ask for APA time that is fine, maybe in 2 weeks

what we agree on symbol and what we can put off to advanced (for a later date)

<LisaSeemanKest> https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-personalization-tf/2019Jul/0021.html

Lisa: I wrote it in an email to the List. lets do it in stages.

<LisaSeemanKest> data-symbol ="10230"

Lisa: , basic bic # as standard reference not full URI, shorter
... , do we all agree?

<LisaSeemanKest> +1

+1

Janina: lets just do an email CFC

Lisa: do we want to include the common terms?

Janina: I say no.

Charles agrees with Janina

Lisa: automatic mapping file for your own symbols.
... , another module 4

<sharon> Sharon agrees with Janina as well

Lisa: Version 1 put in the content. Future potential version to speed things up where every time in a document you encounter "xyz" it gets mapped to a symbol.

Janina: will review the CFC email from Lisa.

Lisa: are we happy with data-symbol

or combine with data-action

Charles: I think we keep it separate

Sharon: I agree with Charles.
