Announcement - Regression test development training available in July

Valerie Young from Bocoup will be available in July for review of and coaching on development of regression tests for examples. We need to know who would be interested in separate meetings on this topic to coordinate schedules.

mck: 15days of work by Valerie is reserved on July.
... Valerie will help training and Matt will set up the separate call for the training
... If you are interested in, let Matt know.
... don't see a reason why we cannot record it.
... we can definitely share the training.

ARIA-APG Publication Schedule

Aims for APG 1.1 R4 CfC(Call for Consensus) starting July 10 and publication during week of July 22

mck: Top priorities for R4 publication include: Updated simple carousel Combobox Date Picker Tooltips on Toolbar example Naming and describing guidance Disclosure Menu
... Secondary priorities include additional guidance sections, other bug fixes in queue, date picker spin button
... would need help for reviewing the examples before its publication.
... in particualry, editorial review and intertaction testing(keyboard, mouse testing)

will be great

Disclosure navigation menu example

use of word, 'menu'

"menu" is specific concept for "ARIA APG" as a pattern.

mck: I am interested in the feedback.

s/particular/particular

carmacleod: I think we should use the word, 'menu' because that is the word people is looking for.
... we can add a warning note about the word, "menu"

<carmacleod> https://raw.githack.com/smhigley/aria-practices/1028-disclosure-menu-example/examples/disclosure/disclosure-navigation.html

mck: this is the list of links.

<jamesn> "Navigation Menu using Disclosure (not using menu role)"

sarah: i can add "menu" title and add note underneatch about it is not the menu
... I suggest "example disclosure for navigation menu"

mck: james said "it acts like a menu"
... but it does not behave like navigation menu.
... why it has down arror key - this is the violation of the principle, "role reflects intercation"

jongund: this is common pattern so that it can be navigated by keyboard

sarah: perserving 'tab' would be good for beginner users.

mck: why there is arrow if there is tab key is available?

sarah: arrow key helps if there is a long list of links, it is kind of progressive enhancement

<Dorothy> combobox, select, menu, tab, nav, list

sarah: one disadvantage of arrow is

hijacking

carmacleod: example has an option for arrow key use, "include arrow key navigation"

Sarah: I will update example with feedback

Naming and describing issues

<zcorpan> GitHub: https://github.com/w3c/aria-practices/pull/994

mck: I will post this to aria list and some other list to get feedback. I will also get feedback from engineers in facebook and some places.

https://raw.githack.com/w3c/aria-practices/zcorpan/labelling-describing/aria-practices.html#names_and_descriptions

<zcorpan> 17 rows not finished

<jongund> need to leave a little early

mck: the document will be stable by tomorrow.

<zcorpan> https://raw.githack.com/w3c/aria-practices/zcorpan/labelling-describing/aria-practices.html#naming_with_aria-labelledby

<zcorpan> search for "HTML hidden"

mck: I need feedback for above section

<zcorpan> https://github.com/w3c/aria-practices/issues/26

mck: we can ask about "math" role to Joannie
... I will work with Simon to finish the doc.
