<yatil> https://www.w3.org/WAI/tutorials/

<siri> Hi Mark :)

Eric Eggert: discuss ARIA APG education material

Eric: hopes to take up WAI tutorials later this year
... will be parallel work for topics for tutorials

mck: feedback that tutorials are out of sync with APG

<yatil> https://github.com/w3c/wai-tutorials/issues

mck: suggestion for working with APG group?

Eric: maybe August

Jemma: tutorial for writing good accessible names?

Eric: nothing planned but hopes to add tutorial
... can point to APG if good description exists there

<zcorpan> (PR for Guideline for labeling and describing: https://github.com/w3c/aria-practices/pull/994)

mck: Simon is working on "good" or "appropriate" accessible name but seems like topic that deserves attention

<Jemma> mck:can we, apg and eowg collaborate on "what good accessible names?" and what are the pontentials?

Eric: tutorials encourage best practices

mck: tutorial can define "good" and then point to APG for code examples

Jemma: what is timeframe for discussion of good accessible name?

Eric: if short, might pick up this year but hard to say
... probably have good working draft in 12 weeks

Siri: how different from Jon's?

mck: describes how to write

Eric: Ideas? Feel free to put in issue in github

mck: goal is fully reviewed by May 7 and ready to merge

<MarkMcCarthy> I cannot volunteer at that this time, we have several all hands projects tying me up. Sorry!

Jemma volunteered

jn volunteered

mck: other issues should go into 971

Date picker status update

<jongund> https://raw.githack.com/w3c/aria-practices/issue1007-visible-pause-carousel/examples/carousel/carousel-1/carousel-1.html

Mark: cleaned up and added description for calendar grid
... looking for feedback on calendar grid

<Jemma> https://raw.githack.com/w3c/aria-practices/issue57-date-picker-design-pattern/aria-practices.html#date_picker

Draft of date picker pattern: https://raw.githack.com/w3c/aria-practices/issue57-date-picker-design-pattern/aria-practices.html#date_picker

mck: overall impression is that there's more than needed but maybe need link to examples
... description then list of examples
... important attributes for accessible date picker
... wants to avoid duplicate info from other parts of APG

<dbass2> month name plus the date number: January(1) instead of number only or name only

<dbass2> credit cards use a number for the month name

mck: date picker example that allows direct input of date?
... might want to consider allowing direct input of date

jg: date picker example needs feedback

mck: will do review

jg: when stale, gets merge issues

mck: date picker review will follow carousel review
... discuss architecting next example on May 7 call

Range related properties guidance

<zcorpan> GitHub: https://github.com/w3c/aria-practices/pull/1000

I'm back

<MarkMcCarthy> ey: below is a link to range related properties

<Jemma> https://github.com/w3c/aria-practices/blob/4207f97ceb0929ca8d9246d782f332c1b1573ef1/range_related_properties.md

mck: wants feedback on structure, missing info, where are others going to have questions

jg: min/max not required on slider any longer

<Jemma> https://www.w3.org/TR/wai-aria-practices/examples/slider/slider-2.html

<Jemma> Slider Examples with aria-orientation and aria-valuetext

jg: when has text value, numeric value doesn't make sense

Simon: example does use min/max

mck: high/med/low corresponds to 1, 2 and 3

jg: there are good use cases for not having min/max
... if something has text value, is it correct to use slider?

Simon: where is an example without min/max?

mck: what is purpose of min/max?

jn: ARIA spec will not require min/max

<zcorpan> you can override the percentage rendering with aria-valuetext

jn: if not specified, min = zero/max = 100

mck: more work needed on this

Future meetings and other business
