<Lauriat> Wiki page: https://www.w3.org/WAI/GL/task-forces/silver/wiki/Conformance_Issues

how do we move forward/get past the issues related to the conformance model? it is a very complicated issue with many nuances. we need to identify the issues that we haven't figured out yet.

then find people with appropriate expertise to take a critical look]

divide the testing section into two areas: testing and methods for showing results

we need to have reliability of test methods

add the use case where it does conform but for reasons of usability or

<kirkwood> where are we finding these use cases?

cases where you are reliant on a vendor and have to wait for the vendor to fix it.

<bruce_bailey> My understand from a legal perspective is that compliance and conformance are synonyms

legal compliance vs conformance..what is the distinction?

<bruce_bailey> Sometimes we talk about agencies comply and web pages conform

<Zakim> JF, you wanted to ask about compliance versus conformance (and does the semantic matter?)

<JF> thanks you chuck

<Lauriat> +1, thank you!

<Zakim> bruce_bailey, you wanted to say I would prefer that mostly write about conformance

bruce suggests that we not use the word comply and only talk about conformance

<kirkwood> +1 saying to no on ‘comply’

<Chuck> +1 to Bruce

<Lauriat> https://www.w3.org/WAI/GL/task-forces/silver/wiki/Conformance_Issues

https://www.w3.org/WAI/GL/task-forces/silver/wiki/Conformance_Issues

<KimD> I agree with Bruce - there's not much distinction that I can see (legally) but "conform" is probably better.

7 issues have been identified thus far. are there others?

https://www.w3.org/WAI/GL/task-forces/silver/wiki/Conformance_Issues

how do we make conformance better align with the experience with PWD?

some of that is related to methodogy of task based assessment

How are we covering "equivalent experience" and not identical experience? The example is a Map application where the complexity of the visual experience is too overwhelming to express in text equivalent.

how to define the task? example of changing the font.

if you have a path to completion and it is a reasonable approximation it is an equivalent experience?

<Chuck> +1 for shari doing great job

one question around the point system is the maintenance of it

given the intersection of all of these issues how do we make sure it is sustainable going forward?

should we send this list of issues out to the list serve?

<Zakim> bruce_bailey, you wanted to ask about drafts on point system

<jeanne> https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1NlgycSkw_fpdDPHpzhovni6eeMHDCHpCSZCeXt3sm_g/edit#gid=0

bruce asked about the point system. he thinks that we can still be a point based system and still maintain a minimum level of conformance for all to access

<bruce_bailey> point system could be contructed to avoid gaming

the spreadsheet above examines a number of factors (ease of use, etc) and explores what a point system could look like

<bruce_bailey> gross proof of concept with WCAG 2.1: Level A SC are 10K points each, Level AA SC are in the 1000 to 5000 point range, Level AAA SC are in the 1-100 point range

<jeanne> Jeanne will include Tim Boland's proposal for a point system.

<jeanne> AccessU meeting? Complete the form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1zrTmvyTpGz2bJ8DOUeKTYeIMJJOgS2PvJErXrJvrVDI/edit

some reminders: if you are planning to attend accessU please complete the form

<jeanne> https://www.w3.org/2002/09/wbs/35422/Silver_Requirements/ for TASK force members

if you are a task force member and also a member of the accessibility working group (not the community group) please vote on the requirements

bruce pointed out that member can't see the results of the questionaire
