Release 4 plan review and update

<jemma> scribe:Ann

Release 4 plan: https://github.com/w3c/aria-practices/wiki/APG-1.1-Release-4-Plan

mck; any adjustments before end of June

mck: freeze by last week of June or July 4
... last release of 1.1

Mark: will be meeting with Jon Gunderson to work on date picker pattern & example

mck: more questions surfaced about navigation menubar
... any opinions?

jn: nav menubar keeps coming up - does it need stronger language?

Carolyn: additionally add nav with links possibly with skip link example

jn: how to get aria into that?

Carolyn: aria-current

<MarkMcCarthy> I think those are good ideas..

mck: most common question is difference between keyboard and mouse behavior
... language exists about cautions
... addressing issue but no example

siri: mimicks desktop navigation but for normal nav need example

mck: address issue that parents that work like links

<MarkMcCarthy> www.usa.gov

Carolyn: suppose to be accessible but hasn't tried it recently

mck: this is one of the patterns we espouse
... list with nested list of many (a pile) in tab order
... crude does work
... can make disclosure-based menubar example
... mega only because it's giant

siri: is it wrong to do everything as a link

mck: links don't expand - links go to another place
... not everything appears on links list

Carolyn: shouldn't show up on list of links

mck: could have example that addresses questions
... does this supercede another carousel example

group: YES!

mck: not hard to code
... have several nav examples

<jemma> http://w3c.github.io/aria-practices/examples/menubar/menubar-1/menubar-1.html

mck: have another example that uses same terminology as existing menubar example

<jamesn> or start with this (and rip out the jquery) - https://adobe-accessibility.github.io/Accessible-Mega-Menu/

mck: disclosure style menu bar
... overloading parent item with click vs hover

hover=arrow

Carolyn: reduce swirl with disclosure example

mck: will add disclosure version of navigation menubar

<jamesn> https://adobe-accessibility.github.io/Accessible-Mega-Menu/

<MarkMcCarthy> I like it James!

jn: can tab and arrow in this example

Stefan: principle is like a tab strip

mck: does arrow wrap inside?

Carolyn: down arrow is like tab

mck: down arrow transverses the entire menu

jn: interesting to look at when doing this work

mck: wants kindergarder level menubar
... many ways to achieve accessible results
... volunteer to work on code?

jn: Scott may be interested

mck: who else volunteered to work with Jon on input assistance?

crickets

<jemma> https://github.com/w3c/aria-practices/issues/252

mck: switch is so close

aa: Jon is on switch, so wait till he's on a call

mck: anyone who wants to work on anything in release plan in PR

: Issue triage

<carmacleod_> https://github.com/w3c/aria-practices/issues?utf8=%E2%9C%93&q=is%3Aissue+is%3Aopen+no%3Alabel

mck: toggle implemented as checkbox = question
... added to Rel 4 plan
... toggletip/infotip pattern - comes up on click, not hover

<jemma> https://github.com/w3c/aria-practices/issues/1014

mck: code example/added to tooltip project

DL DT DD structure example: update Disclosure example as well?

code example/question/feedback
