Accessibility of domain-specific notations and content types.

<jasonjgw_> Responding to Jason, Scott notes the wide diversity of references that he collected (posted to the mailing list).

<jasonjgw_> Some references are clearly relevant whereas others are less obviously so, though all make reference to accessibility issues.

<scribe> scribe: janina

<jasonjgw_> Scott will devote time over the next week to refine the list of references. There are approx. 180 references on the list currently.

sh: Suggest I keep working on this to pull it together more.

<jasonjgw_> Scott will identify important references on which to focus.

jgw: Asking about svg and math a11y work capture? Is it there?

sh: Yes to grx
... Some 180 papers, more to do to pull this into usable form

<jasonjgw_> Janina notes interest in standardizing means of providing mathematical input (e.g., handwriting, speech input).

sh: Notes having read that handwriting still predominates for input
... Issues come at interaction challenge
... a11y support for interacting with expressions still a research need

<jasonjgw_> Janina refers to the mathematics accessibility discussion to take place on Monday at TPAC.

jb: Agrees with jgw on input still mostly by hand
... Agrees with jgw that math input still mostly by hand

jgw: Seems mainstream is still having input concerns, so a11y only exaserbates the problem
... Recalls a paper claiming that rendering expressions is solved, interaction isn't solved

<jasonjgw_> Janina regards the notational input topic as a distinct and important problem.

<jasonjgw_> Janina: the input and manipulation problem appears to be a challenge that will arise in all of the knowledge dmains with which we are concerned in relaiton to specific notations.

<jasonjgw_> Jnaina questions whehter the input problems are insufficiently solved or understood where the notation is non-linear (music, mathematics, chemical formulae, etc.) - whereas the input problems of text are largely understood.

jgw: Agrees that read only access in whatever knowledge domain is ultimately insufficient

Identificaton of further research questions arising from APA Working Group relationships.

<jasonjgw_> Janina doesn't see an over-arching accessibility concern related to recent developments in AI.

jb: notes accessibility of ai
... then also how ai can help a11y

<jasonjgw_> Janina suggests creating a summary for each of the verticals of what has been discovered in discussing it. There would be an RQTF comment for each vertical.

jgw: next item, WoT

sh: we certainly have content
... have been workjbop proposals, sa looking for funding for verticals in general

jgw: notes two remaining
... svg and grx, we partially covered above in knowledge domain
... and ssml, which we agree is obe with new APA Task Force
