rrsgaent, make minutes
CMN: We'll continue editing
HTML5.3, but will not push it to CR.
... When we identify issues that should be taken up in both
specs, we'll file them on the WHATWG repo.
... If an agreement with the WHATWG is reached, the suggestion
is that HTML5.3 could be published as a W3C Note.
XW: Do we focus on the WHATWG delta issues, or just the issues in our repo?
CMN: The value of working on the
delta issues, is that it makes both specs better.
... If an agreement can't be reached, then working on the
deltas (as we have been doing) also makes sense.
... Personally, I believe it is possible to produce two
parallel specs.
... I think it's important that in our spec, we document the
deliberate differences between the two, because that is
helpful.
<chaals> LJW: Another suggestion that keeps coing up is that W3C works on a "developer edition" ...
<chaals> ... (guide to how to use the language directed at authors)
<chaals> ... this leverages the synergies and the relative strengths of W3C going forward
SOH: I like that idea. If that's how it has to be at least.
LW: One counter-argument is, what would this "primer" provide that something like MDN can't?
TE: From the point of HM Gov, and also representatives across the EU, it is helpful to us to have a referenced version of a specification/document.
SOH: A W3C document would have the benefit of implementation reality, where MDN is not obliged by that.
CMN: There is something to be said for helping to make MDN better.
LW: I think MDN and a "primer" or referenced specification, are two different things, for different audiences.
XW: A "primer" would have more background information about different elements.
TE: From the point of HM Gov, and also representatives across the EU, it is helpful to us to have a referenced version of a specification/document.
https://github.com/w3c/html/milestone/24
LW: Milestone is 11% complete, 38 open issues, 5 closed, no activity for 5 days, and the milestone closes on 31st August.
SOH: Hoping my week will free up and I can work on some issues.
CMN: Have a bunch of things that are achievable in principle.
TE: Will take a look
tomorrow.
... Not sure what's assigned, but have time tomorrow to bash
through some things.
... Please asign me things that look interesting or easy.
CMN: Will do.
LW: Otherwise just have a look and grab whatever appeals to you.

<chaals> https://github.com/whatwg/html/commit/5e43bcf2f65b6231e6466ff9abc55648e28c2a4b - chaals to look?
CMn: I'll take the commits from the 11th and 13th.
SOH: I'll take the 10th and 9th.
TE: I'll take the 2nd.
XW: I'll take the 7th.
CMN: I'll also take the 3rd.
