CAPTCHA Note - updates and coordination

jgw and janina remarking that they appreciate the quality of scott's edits

jgw: asks about formats for group edits

janina: suggests leaving things as they are for now because we're all comfortable

<jasonjgw> Janina: suggests we should clarify that there are people who don't self-identify as having disabilities but for whom CAPTCHA presents a challenge, resulting in failed attempts to respond to the CAPTCHA.

<jasonjgw> Michael notes that failed attempts result in new CAPTCHA stimuli, so the user has to start the attempt from the beginning.

<jasonjgw> We agreed to fine-tune the message.

<jasonjgw> Janina: notes that an audio challenge, unlike a visual challenge, is temporal. In the audio case, there has to be a replay option.

<jasonjgw> Judy notes that in solving a visual CAPTCHA, a user may proceed until a stimulus occurs that can be solved - wehre difficulties occur.

<jasonjgw> Janina notes the difficulties that occur when screen readers are competing for the audio channel.

<Judy> s/a user may proceed until a stimulus occurs that can be solved -- wehre difficulties occur/a user may either stare at an image to try to decipher it, or request a new image to try to solve/

<jasonjgw> Janina: notes that the use of federated services is strongly on the increase, due to growing reliance on cloud services. As a result, many people have an identity that can be used as a federated identitiy, as a side-effect of increased use of cloud services.

<jasonjgw> Scott will undertake further editing based on comments over the next several days. We'll then review.

<jasonjgw> The intention of the Task Force is to circulate the draft to APA later this month or (failing that) in May.
