<scribe> scribe:Jemma

<sirib> Thanks Jemma

today's agenda: 1. December and early January schedule 2. Cutting publication branch for first release today! 3. Validation issues

4.Pending reviews in current milestone

December and early January schedule

<AnnAbbott> No meeting Dec 25 or Jan 1

mck: proposing not to have a meeting on dec 18
... we will meet on jan 8

Cutting publication branch

<sirib> lot of disturbance

mck: if Evan commit the code today, I would like to have a few people to review

annabbott: I can review it

<AnnAbbott> jamesn: will review

mck: I am appending change log
... then Michael will do final review
... the branch around 6pm on eastern time

Validation issues

Two outstanding issues:

1)Issue 432: Menu Button examples using role=none on <li> elements flagged by the Nu Validator

Michael seems to be comfortable with ignoring validation issues..

role=presentation is the same as role =none but if we switch back to role=presentation to prevent validator error, there is no point for aria update.

2)Issue 447: Add note addressing validation errors resulting from aria-expanded on menuitem elements to Menu and Menubar patterns and examples.

Other incomplete work and unresolved bugs

1)https://github.com/w3c/aria-practices/issues/523

Modal Dialog Example: Dialogs underneath other dialogs are not grayed out

mck: fixing graying out problem introduce another focus problem - If we have to choose, we would choose to fix focus problem.
... current master version of modal dialog is what we reviewed and approved

ann: I would vote for fixing gray out problem

mck: issue 217

Finish drafting section "Discernable and Predictable Keyboard Focus"

this will be done next release

Pending reviews in current milestone

<AnnAbbott> jemma: Thanks, Jemma - I couldn't find it in the irc log...

<AnnAbbott> Gotta run...HAPPY HOLIDAYS, Everyone!!!

aria - own in chrome and firefox, not safari

aria-own works in chrome and firefox

<sirib> IE I think were it is broken

<jongund> have to go

aria 1.1 support aria-control, aria 1.0 aria-own

in regards to combo box

brayn: I would like to request aria-control for consistency.

to work in cross browsers

mck: we can also look into this issue in new year.
