Even if fractional duration units were better specified, we believe that it would be better to align the practice of the ontology with that of the existing duration types in XML Schema, and require integral values for all components of the duration except seconds.

Related notes:

Suggestion rejected in general. The DurationDescription class is designed to provide flexibility and to allow a duration to be described using a variety of units. This can support fractional values for any unit matching common usages like '2.5 days' or '3/4 hour'.

However, there is a question about whether the datatype should only be xsd:decimal or also allow for xsd:double (which includes scientific notation - required for very large numbers such as in geologic time). Propose changing the values to xsd:decimal in this context. For large values expressed numerically, use time:Duration/time:numericDuration instead.

Have added :hasXSDDuration property with domain :TemporalEntity and range xsd:duration.
This shortcut is consisten with other inXSD* proeprties on :Instant, but won't go any further than this.
