<MichaelC> XML Inclusions (XInclude) Version 1.1
Nothing interesting for PF
<MichaelC> Requirements for Hangul Text Layout and Typography
Isn't there some korean a11y group that we talked about the other week?
MichaelC: Yes - but they are
doing their work in korean so we can't easily monitor it.
... only thing that might be concerning is low vision
issues.
janina: Maybe this should wait until the new charters shake out. look at it during TPAC.
MichaelC: multi-directional text
might be interesting with low-vision.
... not clear if it is in our domain to worry about right
now.
janina: there is a low vision task force that might get set up in WAI. Maybe they should look at this?
MichaelC: We should explicitly recruit some CJK speakers into that task force.
JamesN: Lisa is an expert in rtl languages - recruit her.
MichaelC: Hebrew / Arabic have different problems, but still.
<MichaelC> Navigation Timing 2
<MichaelC> ACTION: Katie to look at Data on the Web Best Practices http://www.w3.org/TR/dwbp/ [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2015/07/01-pf-minutes.html#action01]
<trackbot> Created ACTION-1669 - Look at data on the web best practices http://www.w3.org/tr/dwbp/ [on Katie Haritos-Shea - due 2015-07-08].
<MichaelC> Cryptoledgers Community Group
Katie: Web Paymentrs people are interested in this - it will pick up later
ShaneM: I will be watching this as part of WPIG, Katie will too. Someone will squawk of there are issues.
<MichaelC> Federated Infrastructures Community Group
janina: charters are done... not sure what the delay is.
MichaelC: Nothing to report.
janina: hotel registration is available. Do that! It looks like it will be well attended.
ShaneM: Renaissance Sapporo is the least expensive but will have construction.
janina: The Renaissance will have shuttles
JamesN: The Holiday Inn downtown
was < $40 a night for most nights.
... you don't want to change airports in Osaka nor in Tokyo. It
is difficult.
Basically there are lots of options on how to get to and from. Look around!
janina: Flying via Honolulu is not currently cost effective.
richardschwerdtfeger: voted to
have ARIA DPUB go to FPWD
... extension process was not quite in place but moving
along
... Rich has some todos that need to be done to get support for
the extension out there.
... ARIA taskforce reviews things, but will not be a
bottleneck.
... ARIA 1.1 mapping etc. targeted at July 14 for a
heartbeat.
... In the graphics module to scope things and decide what to
deliver in time for SVG 2.
... might want to introduce new navigational model stuff for
directions. But that will not be done in time.
... need to do an API mapping guide. Names / description
mappings. SVG is a little different from HTML.
... e.g., there can be a title attribute from SVG that differs
from the one from HTML. The browser willneed to choose which
one to use.
... might also introduce a connector spec. How to map
connections between items in a graphics model (ala Vizio
objects, for example)
... need to ensure that the same event model is implemented by
all browser vendors. tabindex + scripting and events mean you
could implement navigation via scripting.
... targeting getting done with all of this in 2016.
... annotation relationships. Moved to ARIA 2.0 but still
important.
... error handling. There should be a way to expose keyboard
shortcuts. Things being discussed.
... test cases is going to be a big deal.
janina: Yes. ARIA 1.1 test issues need to get started soon. MichaelC has a plan to make a plan.
richardschwerdtfeger: group has done a great job.
janina: COGA and SVG are doing
well.
... HTML A11Y TF may need to morph into something different as
the HTML charter changes.
... webapps may take over the main work with a new name.
... as soon as there is a little more definition, we will need
to readjust what the task force is about and who it talks
to.
janina: Community Groups may not be the best solution because there is no staff support.
MichaelC: it turns out this is
not a W3C policy. It is a WAI funding position. The funding for
the positions does not allow it.
... if other staff were available they could assist a community
group.
Cyns: the thinking was that
webapps workig group would be the place for more mature things
to go. Community groups would be a place to incubate
ideas.
... being the first poster child for using this model would be
good on a few levels.
katie: are you expecting or thinking about a spec? 'Cause community groups can't produce specs.
Cyns: The thinking was that a CG would do something and then hand it off to the working group when it was ready for FPWD.
MichaelC: THe process is that a CG can do a report, and then push that report into a working group when it is ready.
janina: one thing I get asked is "who will be working on this?" I say "Cynthia, Rich, Joanie, JamesN..." they are all a11y people. are there others that plan to be involved?
Cyns: we haven't done recruiting
yet.
... "hey we are doing things in the new model that you guys
liked. Come play. Also, because it is script not markup, we may
get more interest. But I am not sure. We need to do the
recruiting.
janina: it is a concern that we
need browser implementors involved.
... that's one of the reasons IndieUI did not complete.
Cyns: mozilla is the next group
of people I will reach out to.
... don't know where Apple is at.
janina: Note that there are things from IndieUI that might get picked up here.
Cyns: certainly a lot of the use cases are the same. No idea about solutions. That's why it is in incubation.
janina: This will mature once the
charters from the interaction domain get sorted out.
... Kenny is a possible staff contact?
MichaelC: Judy is trying to work on how IndieUI fits into WAPA / WebApps environment.
Cyns: "
... "Script based accessibility"
MichaelC: judy wonders whether there should be some fallback statement in the ARIA charter
Cyns: That might introduce some
drama.
... We are not talking about just any community group. We are
talking about working in a specific incubator community
group.
