Alt Edits Status Update http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html-a11y/2013Jun/0014.html

JS: Doesn't seem to be much conversation around SteveF's work on ALT. We should take a look and provide feedback

MS: I'll take a look today to see if I can provide any feedback.

DM: Do we file bugs?

JS: Either comment on list or add comments to existing bugs.

MS: here is the link to Steve's current status on what needs review: http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html-a11y/2013Jun/0013.html

Longdesc Status Update

JS: Any new bugs filed on Longdesc since publication? Progress on 3 bugs filed during CfC?

MS: No new bugs, not sure if chaals has and a chance to address the 3 filed during CfC?

... should we send out a reminder with one week to go in comments?

JS: Won't hurt.

HTML5 testing

https://www.w3.org/2002/09/wbs/44061/html-a11y-tf-html5-testing-review/results

MS: emails sent out, all responses are in. 7 responses. Most agreeable time is 2PM ET
... I will send out an email formally inviting everyone to the call for next Thursday 6/20

JF: will have a hard time making the meetings, but want to participate as much as possible. Please include me via email.

JS: don't need to test alt, but do need to test canvas.

Subteam Reports: Bug Triage; AAPI Mapping; Media;

MS: Bug Triage reviewed 6 new bugs, none to be tracked by TF. Reviewed a11yTF bugs that need to be closed for CR per Robin: https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/buglist.cgi?keywords=CR%2C%20&keywords=a11ytf&keywords_type=allwords&query_format=advanced&bug_status=NEW&bug_status=ASSIGNED&bug_status=REOPENED&component=HTML5%20spec&product=HTML%20WG&list_id=15460
... wanted to discuss Bug 21722 https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=21722

... Ambiguous/incorrect wording regarding placeholder attribute of input elements

MS: here is the relevant section of the spec: http://www.w3.org/TR/html5/forms.html#the-placeholder-attribute

CS: The placeholder attribute is included in the name calculation, at least in IE.

... name calculation happens at page load.

...could be a mapping guide problem.

JF: could be more of an issue for UAAG

MS: we will continue to follow and may want to add comments to this bug.

DM: I will create some tests to see check current implementations.

CS: AAPI has been busy with other things.

...haven't had a chance to get together.

JS: Media team has met.

...i will be sending out an email introducing JF and Dominic Mazzoni from Google regarding what to do with transcript. John can you send me those two URLs?

JF: I have some specific questions for Dominic regarding transcript and controls.

...hard to find a time for us to eat with strongest contributors living in Ireland and Austrailia

...can probably start around the 18th of July

MS: Looking back at my notes from this call I see that we decided Tuesdays or Thursdays at 6PM ET would be a good time for media sub-team meeting.

JF: I believe that is 11PM in Ireland and 8AM in Austrailia...

... can get an email thread going beforehand.

JS: one of the items we need to address is to process comments filed on media related bugs.

Wiki, TF pages, similar administrative items

DM: i just put together some tests regarding placeholder text with JAWS 14 in IE and Firefox. If there is placeholder and no label it will read the value of the placeholder.

JF: we need to make sure the spec clarifies the intent of this attribute and how UA should implement it.

JS: this may not require any language change in this spec. perhaps in others, like UAAG and WCAG.

DM: works in NVDA as well.
