ISSUE-175: 4.3 Provenance service discovery

4.3 Provenance service discovery
- State:
- CLOSED
- Product:
- Accessing and Querying Provenance
- Raised by:
- Timothy Lebo
- Opened on:
- 2011-11-23
- Description:
- Although we are NOT defining any specific mechanism for finding provenance services, might we recommend a URI for the class of provenance services?
The initial class description for <http://www.w3.org/ns/prov-o/ProvenanceService> is at:
http://dvcs.w3.org/hg/prov/file/0abd4c442b42/ontology/components/ProvenanceService.ttl
This would allow anyone to type there service, making it easier for others to find in "whatever mechanism" they adopt:
<http://example.info/provenance_service/> rdf:type <http://www.w3.org/ns/prov-o/ProvenanceService> .
Thanks,
Tim

Related notes:
I've added this to section 4.3, and updated appendix B accordingly:
[[
To facilitate service discovery, we recommend that RDF publication of service descriptions uses the provenance service type http://www.w3.org/ns/prov-o/ProvenanceService, defined by [PROV-O] ontology. The RDF examples in section B. Provenance service format examples show this use.
]]
This raises the question of whether the service description properties should also be included in the same namespace. I think that would be preferable. Should this be raised as an issue on the provenance ontology product?
