IDL and W3C
W3C has used OMG IDL in some of its Recommendations. Most of these Recommendations are related to the Document Object Model. IDL is shown in W3C technical reports and publications as an Appendix offering IDL definitions for the interfaces established by a technical report and these documents also show mappings or bindings for other languages (usually –but not only- being Java and ECMAScript) recommendations. It is also very common that only one among those interface specifications (IDL, Java, ECMAScript, …) are normative. For publications related to DOM, IDL definitions are normative.
