VI. Adding Sound Direction Overcomes Navigation Limitations of Haptic or Touch-Only Exploration
- Problem: Our Vision Impaired researcher (Messr Gonzalez) determined
that haptic or touch navigation (only) is not immediately intuitive;
- Remedy: A “directional” or spatialized audio sound beacon is added
to the VRML 3-D World;
- Process: A directional sound beacon guides a user to turn her head or
move the pen cursor until it projects ahead of the user. One can then
follow this for a directional tour of the VR world.
