Possible Misconceptions

The TAG (thinks it) can instruct WGs what to do.

• No... but the TAG is entitled to have an opinion.
• The W3C Process strives for consensus - the TAG is a stakeholder in that process.
• The Director is a member of the TAG.

The TAG (thinks it) can charter new Activities or WG

• No... anyone (including the TAG) can  propose that the W3C charter work in some area.
• The W3C Charters work in consultation with the W3C Advisory Committee
