Organisational / Charter renewal

Jonathan: I thought I saw a change in the IPR section

<SRT> Charter before us includes the current patent policy 24th Jan 2003: http://www.w3.org/TR/patent-practice

Hugo: I had changed to the PP, but reverted it because transition plan not quite ready

<SRT> Patent Policy in section 4 needs to revert back to what it says in section 7

Scribe: ACTION: Hugo to revert IPR sentence in section 4 to previous text

Hugo: the plan is to put the proposal in front of the AC at the beginning of next week

Jonathan: Michael isn't mentioned in the charter

Scribe: ACTION: Hugo to add an XMLCG liaison in the charter

Scribe: ACTION: Steve to draft email to AB to express desire to have CG involved in organizational liaison, providing technical point of view [changed from David]

Jonathan: we were contacted, but we were a bit confused about the request

Hugo: XMLP is working on a packaging mechanism that can be of interest to Core

Carine: XMLP would like to hear some requirements from Core; however, XMLP doesn't want to go into a one-year project to make it too general

Carine: interesting discussion about UDDI

Steve: Conflicts (XML 2003 + WS-BPEL F2F) this week so expecting low attendance

Jonathan: what is happening the US document?

Hugo: Hao He has been refactoring the document
... we should be republishing it in January in a better shape

Jonathan: we were jointly working on this, and still have a requirement for usage scenarios document in our charter

Hugo: since you have gathered requirements another way, maybe it does not make sense to work on this anymore

Jonathan: maybe we should meet jointly about that in January

Steve: maybe you can use your previous draft to meet this charter requirement

Jonathan: published a 2.0 document as we made a lot of structural changes (removed message parts, etc.)
... part 1 and 2 are getting pretty solid
... hoping to get LC state by end of January
... would wait to have part 3 ready to publish LC; hoping for March
... we are starting to shutting down the scope of changes that we are ready to consider

Steve: Choreography would need a WSDL 2.0 presentation at the f2f; would there be anybody available to do so?

Jonathan: one thing that you should look at carefully is the features & properties mechanism; and we are considering dropping this in favor of the open-content model
... considering removing attributes too

Carine: Had a F2F last week; worked on MTOM
... in addition to XML Core and SVG, there is an opportunity to work with Description on description of attachments
... plan is to have a joint task force

Jonathan: we have a task force to deal with description of binary data

Carine: the task force would be to make a reasonable description of MTOM
... goal is to put MTOM in LC at the same time as WSDL

Jonathan: will there be a new WD before the LC?

Carine: no as our schedule is quite tight

Liaison with WS-I

Jonathan: one problem that we had was not being able to see WS-I documents until they are public
... in WSD, we have a number of people who can communicate
... however, it's sometimes difficult to talk about things when we cannot disclose something we know was decided at WS-I

Steve: it would be interesting to hear from people in our WG

Scribe: ACTION: Steve to ask chairs to ping people in their WGs about something they'd like from WS-I they have issues with right now
