SWAD Objectives

      - Allow the exploration of ideas and prototypes that may be
too risky or low priority for market-driven development
      activity.
- Be a venue for liaison with the academic research
community on results that will impact the Web in the longer
      term.
- Provide testbeds for early results on implementing
      technologies in Working Drafts.
- Stimulate, where necessary, the development and Open
Source availability of key Semantic Web infrastructure
components such as parsers and APIs.
- Implement scenario-led examples showing the integration
of multiple Semantic Web technologies drawing practical use
cases from industry, consumer, developer perspectives.
- Develop a Semantic Web technology integration strategy
that emphasizes the utility of XML languages (such as SVG,
HTML, MathML, XLink) as complementary rather than competing
      components of the Web.
- Foster a collaborative development environment in which
the W3C Team, Members and interested public parties can
explore the design of open source Semantic Web tools and
      technologies.
