Conclusions

• Many are simply proof of concept
• Annotea is the only one W3C has been involved in which has advanced beyond proof of concept
• Basic infrastructure and tools are becoming avaliable
• R&D research on Document Annotation and Metadata provides a simple basis for Semantic Web that many people familiar with the web will understand.
