Systems Administrator

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is looking for a Systems Administrator to support its operations at the MIT Laboratory for Computer Science in Cambridge, MA, USA.

W3C operates numerous computer systems supporting the public, its members,and its staff around the world. These systems are primarily Unix-based, generally running Linux and Solaris on Intel and Sparc hardware. In addition, we operate numerous mailing lists and host large mail and web document archives with strong requirements on reliability and integrity.

We are looking for a person with at least 3 years experience supporting a complex site with most of these elements. Duties include Unix system administration, web server administration, hardware/software upgrades and maintenance, account creation and management, user support, security, backup administration, and some network management.

Experience with the following tools and systems will be taken into account: AFS, NFS, Samba, ssh, Apache, MySQL, CVS, POP, IMAP, sendmail, Postfix, procmail, Smartlist, Majordomo, rsync, BIND, IRC, Perl, Python, Java, PHP3, CGI programming, MYSQL, firewalls, Unix shells and utilities, and automation in a Unix environment.
