What's an interesting question about how the Web’s architecture should evolve that you've come across recently?

From the minutes...

It's important to keep in mind that the web as a platform evolves closely with industry trends. It's important for W3C and TAG to look closely at critical industry needs. The web platform continuously evolves; we need to keep an eye on emerging trends and keep the web compatible.

What are the technical trends you notice are happening on the Web, and what implications do you see for the work of the W3C?

Answer here.

What should the TAG's role be in reviewing WG charters?

From the minutes...

One very important mission of the TAG is to keep web architecture consistent and provide interoperability. Keeping that in mind when reviewing WG charters, the TAG can provide technical guidance from that perspective, making sure the web has consistent design principles and can interoperate. If the TAG finds an emerging technical trend and no proposed WG charter, the TAG can provide the opportunity to publish documents to stimulate discussion. Of course, every Member can propose new work items, but the TAG can stimulate discussions on emerging trends.

Maps are increasingly important, but maps are done in javascript today, making them inaccessible. How do you feel about adding maps to the web platform?

From the minutes...

Maps are very useful in daily life. If we want to standardize them we should identify gaps. Different stakeholders need consensus on the gaps and scope of what should be done in W3C. There are different requirements for different map productions, but I think there is common ground on which we can focus. This should also be extensible. The standardization work should facilitate innovation. We should also consider data protection and privacy. Its interesting work; if you really want to do it, I agree that a workshop is a starting point.

How do you think the appointed TAG seats should be used?

Answer here.

Has the TAG been taking the wrong approach in any of its recent activities, and if so, what would you change?

From the [minutes https://www.w3.org/2023/12/05-ac-minutes.html#t07]...

I wouldn't say "wrong approach" but as a TAG member for 2 years I do think we have opportunities to improve. For example, there's a lot of design review work; some are urgent and some take a long time. Prioritizing these could help W3C improve efficiency, but I wouldn't say what we are doing is “wrong”.

What can the TAG and W3C do about the environmental and social impacts of the Web?

From the minutes...

The TAG can explore, for example, investigating whether to make the web more friendly to the environment and user privacy. We have some work on gaps and can keep those updated; e.g. power consumption. There may be opportunities to explore techniques to evaluate the power consumption of the web platform, guidance for more efficient power usage. Second, looking at social impact. W3C should keep in mind new trends for web technology, for example privacy protection and other new technologies such as AI.
